jimbowood (947), Athens, Georgia, USA Oct 3, 2009 Cask at the brewery. Base of bb imp stout I believe. Smooth and creamy. Very nice. CharlesDarwin (1821), Point Judith, Rhode Island, USA Aug 20, 2009 Updated: Aug 23, 200912oz Bottle. Thanks Jason! Flickr(http://www.flickr.com/photos/26049401@N08/3841492082/) Sulfur and wet bread aroma. Damp, yeasty, and bordered in cardboard. Hmmmm. Pours dark chocolately-black, with a good edge of red and a nice creamy tan head. Flavor develops as a bit weak, thin, and alcoholic. Some faint figs, a touch of charcoal, and a birch smudge. Fluffy. Light. Not sure about this one. I’d like some more depth, heft, and expression in my Impy. Ends very grassy. arrogantb (694), Denver, Colorado, USA Jul 23, 2009 This bottle was dated 1-2008 which really threw me off as I thought it was the best by date. However, this just hit the shelves and I think this is the brewed-on date. The beer pours brown and ends up black in the snifter. The head quickly fades into obscurity leaving some wimpy bubbles behind. The smell is nice, subdued and "stouty". Flavors are hops, raisins, roasty bitterness. The alcohol is very well masked but the mouthfeel is a little thin. Odell does a nice job on all their beers and this is no exception.
