Pours a lasting frothy beige head with an opaque black body. Nose of strong bitter coffee, sour milk and vanilla. Good intensity, mildly oily texture. Flavour of strong coffee melding into a bitter chocolate shaving. Finishes with a disagreeable tin flavour. It packs a decent punch for a mild ABV of 7.1%. Very good DrBayern (1137), Morehead City, North Carolina, USA

Pours black with a medium tan head hta leaves good lace. Aroma of burnt coffee and bittersweet chocolate. Full body and a slighlty astringent mouthfeel. Predominantly bitter flavor is never really balanced by enough malt sweetness. JK (2955), Richfield, Minnesota, USA

Thick and black but lightly carbonated. Bitter coffee and chocolate in the flavor as well as malt, but this is not there in any quantity and is very light. BDR (2162), Roseville, Minnesota, USA

| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | Mar 20, 2007 Bottle purchased in Omaha. Poured a black color with a great head and excellent lacing for an impy stout. The aroma was coffee first and chocolate second. Flavor was coffee, chocolate, licorice, some dark fruits, finishing with a nice touch of hops. The mouthfeel was a little thin and uninspiring, but overall this was a nice beer.
