12oz bottle. Poured a dark brown color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of roast, smoke, tobacco, and chocolate. Ash tray. Tastes of chocolate, dark fruits, roast, and smoke. Really smoky all the way around. Lacing left on the glass.

Very nice brew as an extra from Beer&Blues, thanks Brad. Its all black with a small light tan head that leaves an average lacing. Was not going to rate it but I have been slowly enjoying this all evening. My bottle says 8.2% but the label is exactly the same (stamped 2/2008). Aroma is medium ashy roast and some light bittered chocolate; just a hint of bittered piny hops. Taste has a bit of prune, sweet dark malts and a short hint of bitterness at the end. Just working so perfectly right now for me, not overbearing, prefect for sipping, strong but not overly aggressive. The mouthfeel is a bit too stingy and mineral but otherwise enought body to be felt but not thick.

Bottle (330ml). I manage to get this one through my sister who lives in the USA. Poured black with a good size creamy tanned head which was mostly lasting. Aroma was of roasted malts with some earthy notes, licorice, coco powder, coffee and some salt. Flavor was somewhat salty with roasted malts, sweet dark chocolate, molasses and a slightly woody finish. Hid its alcohol content very well, I would not have thought it to be 8.2%. Full bodied with soft carbonation, syrupy texture, creamy/dry mouthfeel and a good finish.

Pours dark black with a lasting tan head. Smell is smoky, meaty, and orasty with some dark fruit notes too. Taste is smoky, doughy and of some dark fruitiness as well. Smoky lingering flavor in the finish. Light bitterness but I just wasn’t a fan of the smokiness in this beer.

Overall a very good stout. i’ve had better, especially lately, but this one suits me fine. Very drinkable yet complex enough to make you savor every swallow. A little roasty bitterness to the finish.

Incredible stout, this beer alone turned my wimp friend into a dark-beer lover. Dark and full of flavor, but light and carbonated enough to avoid the soy-sauce problem of some imperials.

12oz bottle. Jan 2008 bottling. Terrible cough syrup nose, fuesal, spoiled plums and band-aids. Flavor of creamed blueberries and plastic. Awful, terrible finish that just amplifies the motor oil and blueberry flavors. Cheesy cottage cheese yeast and an arcid burnt plum flavor round this one out. I’m really surprised it’s this bad when it’s a month old.
