Pours a deep black color with a nice tan head that diminished to a ring and left decent lacing. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, and a hint of coffee and dark fruit. Rich roasted malts and chocolate right off the bat. A bit of coffee and roastiness on the finish with a slight fruity sweetness. It is a bit thin on the finish, but it isn’t too bad. Could use a bit more body, and lacks the strong coffee presence found in some other imperial stouts, but it is a good start. jmikolich (405), Athens, Ohio, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | Jan 6, 2008 12oz bottle, nice black pour as with all stouts and porters, however this one strikes me not as an imperial but rather just a plain stout... not a slap in the face taste like some but rather a bitter chocolate and jerky type flavor. | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jan 6, 2008 bottle, from carny77. bottel dated 2007 2. drank 1/4/08. Ok aroma, malted chocolate, egg, roasted grain, tobacco. Clean brownish black color, some light get through on the edges, Ok head that faded away quickly. Ok lace. Bittersweet flavor, like aroma, but comes across stronger than aroma led on. Lite body, for an impy, smooth mouthfeel, bitter roasty finish. Alright, wouldn’t of guessed an impy if had blind. Flavor was best part. MOboy (446), Kansas City, Missouri, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 13, 2007 Beautiful blackness topped off with a creamy, tan foam. Nose is of tobacco, malt, alcohol and quality beef jerky. Flavor is also of cigar tobacco, espresso, toffee and chocolate. Mouthfeel is nice and heavy. An Imperial Stout that feels, tastes and appears bigger than it really is. RSRIZZO (1367), Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Nov 18, 2007 Had this beer on 2/11/2007. Aroma is a mildly dark roasted scent. Color is dead on black with good carbonation and a nice head. Taste is sweet, rich and sharp. Starting with a full body it goes down with a sharp rich feel. Finish comes off of this with a sweet burnt flavor that rides on the sharp feel to the end. All of this leaves you with a deep roasted flavor and a mild sweetness in your mouth. Overall its a nice Imperial Stout but not one that would stand out and really doesn’t deserve to be a specialty brew. peter (385), Dallas, Texas, USA

Aroma is roasted malts, some smoked wood, coffee and dark dry fruits. Flavour is very much the same with very toffeeish hints. Very roasted and smoked aftertaste. Also some slight salted licorace. Really lovely.
