| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 20, 2008 12 oz bottle. Pours with a normal off-white head consisting of larger bubbles in the center and tiny ones near the glass. The liquid below is translucent, copper colored, and lively. I detect a unique and inviting aroma of flowers and sweet herbs, with some mysterious medicinal aspects in there too. The aroma is actually quite heady. The first taste has a blast of hop bitterness that typifies American IPAs, but a complicated experience quickly follows... The medicinal qualities emerge in the form of a sticky, syrupy mouthfeel combined with a slight alcohol burn. Hops tonic, anyone? I don’t taste much citrus, which in this case is a good diversion from most IPAs. There’s more of a focus on the resinous, herbal, and floral qualities of hops. Malt character seems sweet and nice, but the alcohol is not totally hidden and it threatens to throw off the balance. Otherwise a delicious IPA that I revisit once every few months. eaglefan538 (2394), Wilmington, Delaware, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 19, 2008 Bottle from BeerandBlues2, poured the typical golden color, some amber hues, nice generous white head, good lacing. The aroma was grapefruits and some resinous notes. The flavor followed with an earthy hop in there and a bitter strong finish. I’ve been spoiled lately drinking Two Hearted, so this was hard to rave about, but it was a solid, nicely done IPA. Mouthfeel could have been fuller and heartier. Thanks, Brad. Thick is right - intense hops supported by full flavor. couchand (182), Iowa City, Iowa, USA
