waolsen (1218), Littleton, Colorado, USA Oct 24, 2009 bottle. amber pour with thin frothy tan head. lacing. rich malty, nutty aroma. moderated body. nutty, a bit of wet cardboard, light spice and bready. dionysus (95), Arizona, USA Oct 24, 2009 Bottle poured deep amber in color with pretty much no head at all. Aroma is butterscotch, bread, oak, and floral hops. Flavor shows toffee, earth, and a touch of alcohol. Pretty mediocre unless your a huge fan of Odell i guess. potbeercollege (246), Boulder, Colorado, USA Oct 21, 2009 Bottled. Amber color. off white head. Toasty and pleasant aroma. Taste is earthy and burnt, with notes of wood and nut. Not sweet really at all. Warming alcohol finishes the beer leaving burnt notes left on the tongue. Drier finish. I must mention it is a cold rainy/snowy day in Boulder and I am skipping class. GreatLibations (1440), Last Supper, Arizona, USA Oct 14, 2009 Rock steady! This beer is excellent. Pours copper amber in color. A head peeks out only after I throw the beer in the glass. A ring is left to reside the duration. Aromas of glazed, mildly spiced cake bread. Nice! Medium full body with superb carbonation. Good aroma to flavor carryover yielding a bit a sweetness that is simultaneously cleansed by the defined hop profile. Nice spice and cake bread intermingling with noticeable roasted chestnut and cockleshells. The finish is bittered nicely creating a truly wonderful beer. A nice addition to the winter lineup here in AZ. rustychiles (997), Mesa, Arizona, USA Oct 12, 2009 Pours a deep amber with a nice off white head. Aroma is caramel, malt, spices. Flavor is caramel, malt, spices, nuts, toffee and a touch of hops. Decent warmer. notalush (2626), Denver, Colorado, USA Oct 6, 2009 Odell beers are usually hit or miss for me - either they are awesome, or they wind up being boring - unfortunately, this one is an example of the later - very malty - that’s about all I can say - the malts lack a lot of character, and register on my palate as just straight up sweetness - there is a slight toasted grain character, maybe a little bit of toffee - a little bit of warmth on the tail end, with lingering toasted grains - out of Odell’s boring beers, this is one of the better ones, but still...blah. arrogantb (694), Denver, Colorado, USA Sep 1, 2009 I missed this one last year so I bought some as soon as I saw it. It has a nice caramel-red color with a bubbly malty, sweet cereal smell. Nice big mouthfeel, taste is weird, malty, malty, malty. Coats the tongue really well, some mild spice in the back. Can’t really detect hops in this one.
