Commercial Description:
Available each winter from the first of November until it runs out, Isolation ale is amber in color, malty and strong. We consider it a traditional winter warmer, without the addition of fruits or spices.

Pours a deep amber with clarity; head is off-white, pillowy, and decent-sized with some longevity and some nice lacing. Nose is not like a winter warmer, but fine with citrus and light pine and caramel. Flavor is heavy with citrus, maybe orange peel, light caramel, light breadiness, and herbal; bitterness is low. Ends herbal and short. Palate is medium-thin, lively, and watery. Wow, not a great offereing from a decent brewery, and from a winter warmer, which I love. Don’t expect the typical winter warmer, just a weird, somewhat dark, citrusy concoction...

bottle. light clear brown with a lasting head that leaves a pleasant looking lacing pattern down my glass. roast and chocolate nose. a bit of woody trebark in the finish, but other than that slightly unpleasant taste this is a malt centered brew. chocolate, dry roasty hints, a bit smokey, but not really pleasing. this is one of those beers that i don’t find bad, but is just not for me.

Bottle... GABF RB Tasting ’06... Cloudy orange ale with tons of small, black floaties and a mid-sized, wispy, off-white head. The nose is of caramel, milk chocolate, vanilla and light diacetyl/butterscotch. Some butterscotch in the sweet flavor as well, along with caramel and toasted nuts. Medium-bodied and watery with moderate carbonation. Sweet, then astringent finish. Kudos to DenverLogan for sharing the bottle!

GABF 2006 post-party via DenverLogan. 2003-2003 vintage. The beer pours to a chestnut colored body with a nice white head. The aroma is lightly oxidized barley. Some interesting citrus. The flavor is nicely citrusy and barley. Very aged. Decent malty palate.

Pours a dark amber. Aromas of malts/toffee/spice. Flavors of malts, caramel, spice, and a lightly bitter finish.

Bottled 11-30-04: Pours deep mohoghany with a diminishing white head. Aroma is slightly musty with grape, plum, and candy with a bready hint, very complex with caramel and nuts coming through as it warms. Flavor is very bready and sweet, extremelly mellow, definate english yeast character coming through, slightly tart apple/plum flavor in background. Much better than I remember it from January 2005, they should always age it 4 years.

12oz bottle. Clear, golden ruby hue. Spotty off-white head. Floral, fruity aromas, with a cinnamon, caramel malt nose. Medium and initially sticky sweet with a strong caramel toffee malt flavor. Slight coffee note, with a bitter piney dry hop finish. Warming and fruity. Great balance; sweet and bitter/malt and hops. After all these months, this is still quality!
