| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Jan 25, 2009 Tap at the brewery. Poured a deep, clear tan-amber color with a thick beige head that left good lacing. Toasty aroma with hints of toffee, nuts, and an ESB-esque minerally, earthy hoppiness. Smooth, lightly sweet entry with some toasted malts and undertones of soft caramel, toffee, and a light nuttiness that is taken over by a moderately sharp, minerally hops that finish with a light sweetness. Moderate carbonation with a decent hop bite, but still a tad watery. Not a huge fan of the abrasiveness present in both the malts and the sharp hops, but still an alright beer. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 17, 2009 Sweet caramel malt and pepper nose. Deep amber color, foamy head. Resin chocolate sweetness, good bitterness. Medium body, medium carbonation, lemon burnt toast finish. Solid beer, reminds me of New Belgium’s 2 below.
