Gregis (884), Overland Park, Kansas, USA Sep 26, 2007 Pours a hazy amber with a loose, frothy, beige head that leaves behind spindly lacing. Unlike many ambers that are actually copper or orange, this beer is actually "amber". How novel. The nose, while fairly muted, is of bready/biscuity malt and a faint fruitiness without the annoying metallic note that I pick up in many ambers. The mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with a bready tongue-scrubbing texture that finishes fairly dry. The flavor is of bready pale malts with a lightly fruity, crisp hop finish. I am actually surprised that this beer isn’t ranked higher than it is, in both overall and style percentiles. I am generally not a big fan of ambers, primarily because of the metallic characteristics that if observed in so many of them. This beer, however, is devoid of that particular annoyance and is all the better for it. A very drinkable beer and one of the better amber ales that I have sampled.
CanIHave4Beers (171), Des Moines, Iowa, USA Aug 15, 2008 Smells a bit of sweat and skunk, not particularly good. Looks nice at a very light amber color with a strong fluffy head with lots of lace. I can’t say I particularly care for the taste of this beer, my wife handed this one off to me, I certinally like it better than she did, never the less if ou just let it skim the tongue it has a nice malty flavor with some cherry notes. But if you even attempt to savour this beer it has a very weird, almost over ripe tomato taste. I really don’t know how to describe it any other way than that. It is really not particularly good, perhaps I got a bad or mistreated bottle. I hope so. dalekliz (151), San Diego, California, USA Jul 8, 2008 Bottle. Clear amber with a small white head. Very light citrus hops aroma. Light hops taste, a bit sharp. A bit of lingering bitterness. Tasty, but it doesn’t have a lot going on. drjay44 (104), USA Jul 5, 2008 Light, light, light. It does not taste bad, but, boy there sure is not much taste considering it is a sort of microbrew. samistake2ice (5), , Kansas, USA does not count Jun 29, 2008 Not a beer that will blow your socks but still a great, drinkable every day type of beer. just a crisp middle of the road b/w malt and hops. light amber in color great for summer, very refreshing. shanepardue (72), Kansas City, Missouri, USA Jun 22, 2008 light amber, decent head. fruity wheat flavor that’s a little lacking imho. least favorite of o’dell’s, but i’m not a fan of ambers for the most part
