| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Apr 25, 2009 Updated: Apr 26, 2009Bottle. Moderate malt note of toasted, heavy pine and resin for the hops, light soap for the yeast, and pepper and cherry in the background. Head is creamy with larger bubbles, off-white, with excellent lacing and is mostly lasting. Color is sparkling clear dark copper. Flavor is slightly sweet and moderately acidic to start, and finishes lightly acidic and moderately bitter. Palate is light to medium, watery yet a little slick, has a lively carbonation and finishes dry. Great aromas and flavors, this is one serious Amber Ale. Aroma of grapefruit, caramel, and plum. Medium-light, velvety body, with a crisp edge. Tastes of grapefruit and caramel, with a medium-bitter citrus and grass aftertaste. Very drinkable. Not your average, mild-mannered Red, this brew is all hopped-up.
