hellomynameis (794), Mayer, Minnesota, USA Oct 26, 2007 Clear light orange with a fine foamed eggshell head. Aroma of slight hops. Nice mouthfeel with a good malt taste with an after of bittering hops. sliffy (1966), Columbus, Ohio, USA Oct 24, 2007 Bottle: Pours copper with a white head. Aroma, citrus, toffee, caramel, very malty. Flavor, citrus, pale and caramel malts, toffee, pretty sweet, but some nice spicy, citrus bitterness comes through on the finish. Cletus (5001), Connecticut, USA Oct 3, 2007 Bottle courtesy of tjthresh. Pours reddish amber and cloudy wiith a rocky stubborn head. Smells of citrus, pine, some bread. Tastes moderately bitter with pine, pepper and caramel prevailing. Mouthfeel is earthy. Finish is spicy with some nice resiny qualities. Tmoney99 (4655), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Oct 2, 2007 Bottle from Party Source. Poured a clear copper color with an large off-white head that lasted and produced good lacing. Moderate hoppy citrus and pine aroma. Medium body with a slick texture. Medium hoppy bitter flavor with a smooth hoppy citrus bitter finish of average duration. Solid drinkable brew. TheDean (785), MIlwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Sep 27, 2007 Thanks to my Missouri friend for bringing me the O’fallon brews. Great IPA with just the right amound of hops and goodness. andyhite (290), Murfreesboro, Tennessee, USA Sep 22, 2007 bottle (thanks, danni). pours like a red ale poured into a typical pale. the hue is of a rusty nail blended with natural amber. i was a bit disappointed on the head here. i couldn’t pour a head on this beer unless it’s a fresh tapped keg. aromas are musty and muted. stale pine is present, as well as fluffy, airy hops. also, salt, maybe bacon, fatty bacon. it smells a bit light for the style. let’s move on. right off the bat, i pick up smokiness just before the first taste, which dissipates and then comes through in the finish. fresh pine needles and a thin mineral element hits the front palate. it’s a little thin here. i can pick out the cascade hops here, as they’ve always tasted a bit light for use in an ipa. there are qualities i like here, such as the smoke, the unusual nuances of the nose, and the hidden finish. there are also qualities i could pass on here, such as the thin-ness and the mineral, almost lime-like wet rock aspect on the flavor. i’m on the fencepost here. kumite56 (461), Cordova, Tennessee, USA Sep 17, 2007 A nice low alcohol IPA. Nice malty backbone to balance the nice, aromatic and bitter hops. Nose is slighlty pine with some graperuit. BBB63 (4198), La Porte, Indiana, USA Sep 12, 2007 Bottled and served in a standard pint glass: Hazed copper hue with a huge fluffy head and very good lace. The aroma has notes of soapy and herbal vapours along with moderate citric and piney hops, chalky and earthy yeast esters and some caramel and biscuity malts.
The taste starts with some sharp bitterness and acidic fruity tones over grainy malts. There is a smack of resin but that leads to a chalky, medical, and astringent finish that I don’t really dig. The mouth feel is sharp and biting with heavy carbonation.
The finish of this beer (along with that soapy note on the nose) kept me from enjoying some of nice citric qualities found within.
