Pours orange-copper with a small head and cannot see through the beer. Aroma is orange-heavy citrus with grapefruit hops, nicely fresh with a slight oily hop aspect. Taste is better melded citrus flavors (cannot pinpoint one type of citrus fruit) with light sweet cereal-hoppiness (weird nothing like it before, or maybe just a well intergrated malt and hops profile). FInishes medium bitter with a long grapefruit skin aftertaste. Gregis (1132), Shawnee, Kansas, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jul 12, 2007 Pours an slightly cloudy amber orange with small suspended particles and a pillowy beige head. The aroma is of resin, pine and light citrus with a faint malt backing. The mouthfeel is medium-bodied, almost waxy, with lively carbonation and a bitter finish. The flavor follows the nose, leaning mainly toward the piny/earthy side of things. I found this to be a decent beer, but compared to the other IPAs available in the area, it falls short. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 10, 2007 Big robust PNW hop nose...citrus and pine mainly, The pour is classically attractive...orange/copper with a very fluffy off-white head that lingers quite a long time. The flavors are big caramel/toffee malts...sweet and mellow with the PNW hop character providing the bright highlights of grapefruit and pine resin. This is a very, very nice effort and one of my new favorite session ales. willblake (2174), Belcamp, Maryland, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 8, 2007 20070708 12oz bottle, trade from theisti. Dark copper-golden color with sturdy beige head of large bubbles. Unfiltered, or at least cloudy. Caramel and waffle notes blended nicely with fruity yeast and citrus hops. Background honey and floral hints. Flavor is simple up front, sweet and malty, notes of belgian waffle (belgian waffle?) and simple syrup before good resinous pop of cascade goodness. Mildly unctuous at the end, lingering citrus (grapefruit) pithiness after finish. Nice stuff that holds its own in a crowded morass of micro-brewed IPAs. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 2, 2007 Bottle (12oz). Slightly hazy copper, average fizzy/rocky beige head. Simple but pleasant IPA aroma - light citrus juice malt, citrus/resin hops. Taste - sweeter than I thought it would be, more funk and less citrus hops, more generic bitter/light funk - pithy aftertaste. Average body, nice life to it, a little squeaky astringency, no aftertaste - pretty decent middle of the road IPA, my 4th Ofallon and none were lame - nice! | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 1, 2007 Good hoppy nose on this copper/orange ale. The head is thick and rocky and does some heavy lacing. It has a strong floral aroma backed by pine and grapefruit. The flavor has light caramel malt, grapefruit juice, and a resinous bitterness that lasts long into the finish. Pretty decent effort.
