Pour was cloudy, short lasting head. Real watery mouth feel, and a ton of carbonation. I ma appreciating this beer for the specialty and novelty it is meant for. Thanks Seth! | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 5, 2006 From the bottle: Rusty red-orange with an airy top and a chocolate candy aroma. As advertised, this delivers on the chocolate-covered cherry character. Interesting ... but not necessarily what I want in a beer. TheEnemy (422), Chicago, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Mar 4, 2006 12oz bottle. Pours a rather unappealing dark hazy auburn. Little head, not much in the way of retention, almost zero lacing. Aroma is of highly artificial Yoo-hoo-like chocolate and candied cherries. Flavor basically the same with tart cherries first, strange powdered chocolate second, and tart cherries bringing up the rear. Little in the way of hops, malt, grain, or anything else that might indicate this is actually a beer. Average, boring palate. Tastes better than my description and rating might suggest, but this is still quite an odd little beer. If I wanted to drink cherry cordials I’d puree a box of ’em myself. oldrtybastrd (1801), Morlautern, Germany/Great Falls, Montana, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 3, 2006 Pours a muddy brown color. Aromas of cherries, chocolate, and a hint of vanilla. Flavor is a subdued cherry taste, not a big as I expected. Finishes like a cherry tootsie roll pop. Surreal taste, quite remarkable. Medium bodied with a creamy mouthfeel. This is a great beer. | 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Feb 21, 2006 Unfiltered and dirty ruby-brown in color with essentially no head. Aroma is all tootsie roll with a touch of cherry. In fact, the theme here is Cherry Tootsie Pops. A discreet lime presence chimes in to discredit the aroma slightly. Flavor confirms aroma predicators. A solo raspberry kernel gives way to a weak and lighter-bodied farce. I’d expect similar results from dropping a Tootsie Pop in water in hopes of extracting the washed out wonderment. Effervescence performs well in hiding the lack of character, with a finish that is laden with cherry juice scattered over nutella spread. On the other hand, this was a real dandy treat for the wife. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Feb 18, 2006 Updated: Mar 29, 200612 oz Bottle: Bought it simply being intrigued by cherry and chocolate in a beer, plus a ’local’ made it a must try for me. I wasn’t sure what kind of beer it was because no where on it did it say stout, porter, wheat, fruit beer or anything. I was assuming it was a porter because of the chocholate.
Anyway the beer it self poured a deep reddish brown color with a very thin whispy off white head. The aroma is indeed of cheap chocolate covered cherries, quite impressive. The taste doesn’t quite live up to the smell, as its just a touch off and stgrange. There was coffee, chocolate on the finish, some cherry hints, and just a strange taste to it. 1FastSTi (2568), Glendale, Wisconsin, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Feb 17, 2006 Updated: May 5, 2006I didn’t finish this beer. It pours to a bronzed light mahogany body with a light thickness fizzy white head. The aroma is exactly like a chocolate covered cordial cherry. I had a box for xmas so it’s pretty well in my memory bank. Heck, the flavor is 95% similar too. It has more of the creamy filling and cheap chocolate shell than the cherry flavor. That could be more apparent. The palate is light bodied, lingering, artificial. A valiant attempt at making a chocolate covered cherry beer but it’s cloying and not something I want to drink. Eating them is just fine, however. TheDean (785), MIlwaukee, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Feb 12, 2006 This beer litterally smells like a box of chocolate covered cherries. Apart from a slightly sour pre-taste, taste like a box of cherries. Not sure if I like that in a beer of not, but points for making something different.
