Bomber. Pours extremely dark, almost black in fact, with hints of light poking through the mahogany colored outer edges. A tall head of light brown froth is quick to settle to a thin, lasting blanket, while wet, jagged flares of lacing jut upwards onto the glass. The nose is a bit drier than expected, showing a base of cocoa powder, caramelized sugar, and evaporated milk, with a soft overtone of vanilla-steeped bourbon and subtle oak. Hints of coffee roast lend a bit of balance to the sweetness. Flavors aren’t as well defined, with the cocoa-caramel and milky lactose seeming just a little muddled and incohesive, perhaps clouded by the woody bourbon and vanilla. Still, it’s a relatively tasty brew. The palate is soft and creamy, but lacking in substance. A dry, lactic chalkiness comes through after the finish, lingering along with the bourbon flavor. Solid, but not great.

Courtesy daknole. Pours a thick and oily black color topped by a small, foamy tan colored head that settles to a thin film. The aroma shows notes of milk and dark chocolate, sweet bourbon, burnt oak, and vanilla cream. The flavor follows with more of the rich dark and milk chocolates, nice roasted malts, some smooth oaky bourbon, and some lactic vanilla cream to smooth things out. The bourbon doesn’t overpower which is nice and adds nicely to the flavor. Medium bodied and smooth with subtle carbonation leading to a sweet chocolate finish. This is nicely done and tasty sweet stout, and a good use of barrel aging on a lower abv beer.

Pours very dark brown with a tan head. The aroma has light cocoa and a bit of whiskey. Medium slick body with light carbonation. The flavor starts out with light roasted malt, cocoa and thankfully only a hint of bourbon. The finish is lightly medicinal and a little on the creamy side. This is okay, but not up to the price for my tastes.

Bottle thanks to Bu11zeye11. Pours a black with tan head. Aroma of a decent dark roast and coffee. Flavor is the exact same as aroma. Mouth feel is medium body with medium carbonation. Overall, nothing special but a decent stout.

Dark brown. Lactose sweetness, bourbon, wood, chocolate and roast in the aroma. Flavor has some lactose, bitter chocolate, bourbon and roasted malt. This was really good.
