Tasted 6/7/09. Bomber filled from a keg. Pitch opaque hue with a lacing cream colored head. Aromas of coca and coffee acidity. Dark roasted malts and a mild smokey woody note. Medium to full bodied with rich malts and smooth body. Chocolate and cocoa notes abound. Getting a dark berry undertone. Getting a little age on it, but holding up nicely.

Enjoyed at Erato. This beer says it is a cocoa beer and that is truth. Flavor is like Nestle Quik Cocoa powder or perhaps some bakers chocolate. Nose is chocolate and milk. Appearance is very dark with a nice tan head that becomes a blotchy thin layer. As well as the cocoa chocolate some coffee can be tasted but it is weak coffee. This is not a great stout but it is what it says it is.

Reviewed 11/16/2008 (Tap @ The Stables, St. Louis, MO): Pours a dark black body, with a creamy brown head that is lasting. Okay lacing. Chocolately, coffee aroma, roasted, but not very strong. Watery taste. Bitter, with a dark chocolate aftertaste. Better coffee taste as it warms up, not as bitter. Somewhat creamy mouthfeel. Some alcohol hotness as it really warms up. Not my thing.

On tap at Sycamore. Medium body (little weak) with decent amount of chocolate. I would want a more fuller body with lingering roasty taste. Still, very nice overall.
