Pour was a nice deep brown/amber with no head. Taste was very sweet...like caramel with too much sugar added. Sticky earthy mouthfeel with a sugary aftertaste. Tasted a lot bigger than 6.4%. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Apr 2, 2008 Pours a rusty red, dark brown head that dissipates quickly. Aroma is massively sweet, brown sugar, maple syrup notes, and a sligh, peaty smoke note. Flavor is big, initially very sweet, malty to the point of being hot, caramel, toffee, lemon, yeasty notes, nuttiness, and a very bitter, toasty finish. Not at all sweet, but finely balanced. Bravo!

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 27, 2008 12 oz. bottle courtesy/shared with Naka. Pours red with minimal head. Nose is moked peat and caramel, a touch of brisket. Tastes of grassy seeds that were toasted and added to caramel, chocolate and toffee. Not very bitter, but big on grassy, earthy hop flavor. It really tastes of grass and dirt. This truly is what I would think goat’s breath would taste like. If that’s what you’re going for, then good job, but it’s not my bag. Would be a nice beverage to enjoy while grazing. Naka (526), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 26, 2008 Shared w/ Juart. Pours a deep red amber color with a beige fizz, but no real head. Aroma is a sour cherry with grass and rhubarb. The taste is a burnt grass charcoally caramel. A lot of earthy dirt characteristics to it. Maybe toasted sunflower seeds. Some sweetness and bitterness, but there are so many things going on, it lacks balance. It is as if they were trying to achieve balance, but there was so much the seesaw broke. | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 23, 2008 Pours a light fizzy deep amber, almost ruby colored and a thin disipating head. Aroma is sweet sharp caramel malts, light doughy toastiness, and a sharp cherry skin and apple sweet fruity aroma- some raisin as well. Flavor at first is too sharp and dark crystal malts take over, but as it warms, more doughines, fruits, and toasted malts come through and get s a bit smoother as it warms a bit. Not great, but not horrible. goldtwins (4084), Nesconset, New York, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 22, 2008 Poured a golden chestnut color with a thin off-white head. Raisins and toffee make up the semi-sweet aroma. Toffee flavor with a hint of fruit and an earthy and mildly bitter finish. Medium bodied. MrBunn (1542), Western, Pennsylvania, USA

Anyhow, with these thoughts clouding my mind I push on to a nice tawny pour with just a little bit of fizzy head. Aromas are much better than goat breath (I’m guessing) but still pretty bland. Sweet malt and a touch of fuit in the nose. Funky flavors abound and I’m not sure I can track all that is going on in any particular order... here goes: sawdust, dark fruit (like plums or red wine grapes), bourbon, sour and nutty flavors, brown sugar, and a bunch of stuff that I can’t figure out. Still, in spite of all this stuff going on, it seems to blend together rather poorly... a big ragged around the edges with a bit of a rubbing alcohol aftertaste that unsettles me a bit... Still, I’m enjoying this, especially considering it is, in fact, the bottled breath of an old billy goat.
