12oz bottle. Served a few minutes out of the beer fridge. Pours copper/bronze with a small head. Aroma of nutmeg, clove, and to a lesser extent, malt. The initial taste is nutmeg & clove, some pumpkin followed by some cinnamon and spice. Nice, spiced finish. Enjoyable, like many of the other O’Fallon beer, but not extrordinary.

Re-rate: 12 oz bottle. Poured a clear medium orange color. Head was thin, off white, and reduced in less than a minute. There wasn’t much lace on the glass at the end. The aroma was somewhat disappointing, but not bad. It was a strange combination of fruity candy and a bit of pumpkin. Very nice flavor consisting of a mixture of complimentary flavors including pumpkin, cinnamon, butter, and malty cereal grain. Pretty good, saved mostly by the nice flavor.

Clove and cinnamon aroma. Smelled like Thanksgiving dinner. The most interesting aspect of this sampling was the cloudy swirl in the middle that looked like a nebula beckoning from afar. Try holding it up to a light and watch the cloudy fingers call you to taste. With that, I found it to be lacking in flavor as compared to the aroma and appearance. Cinnamon, clove, and nutmeg great you while the hops grace it’s exit. I could drink this through Thanksgiving.

Bottle: Aroma of cinnamon, nutmeg, pumpkin, and the slightest touch of grassy hops. Pours a transparent amber with an small off-white head that diminishes about as quick as any beer I’ve seen. Almost looks still sitting in the glass unless you take a real close look to see small bubbles rising to the top. Like a lot of pumpkin beers for me, the light flavor just doesn’t live up to the aroma. Light cinnamon and nutmeg with a hint of pumpkin. Light grassy hops in the finish. While it looks still, the carbonation is a bit prickly on the palate. It’s drinkable, but that’s hardly a compliment.

amber/copper pour with small white head...aroma of pumpkin, nutmeg, and cinnamon...flavor is quite similar with a spicey and bread-like finish...very filling, and quite enjoyable for something very basic

O’Fallon Pumpkin Ale 12 oz bottle Recent bottling, carved into 09/06 Medium pour in a stein. Poured clear hayish copper with a fizzy quickly diminishing 1/2 inch head. Smelt of light pumpkin and spices. Tasted of light sweet pumpkin pie upfront, with a lightly bready malt kick and a short finish. Mouthfeel was light, fizzy, watery and slightly astringent. Overall, this pumpkin beer doesnt try to impress with taste or complexity. Its more of a good introduction to the style if anything.

Another nasty one by OFallon. I’m just not a fan of this brewery I guess. I am going off old tasting notes. I LOVE pumpkin pie and this beer smells a lot like that. The good stops there, like other OFallon beers i’ve had, they COULD be good but I always get this dirty water flavor going on with them. Has good flavors hiding in there like cinnamon, maybe brown sugar or something but the dirty water thing ruins it for me.

Pours a golden fog that settles to a orange cloud of a beer. Only had a 1/4 inch of head that fizzed out after 30 seconds or so. The smell has hint’s of tart apple, lemon zest cinnamon, and a heavy baked pumpkin pie. Taste is weaker than I expected. I was hoping for more pumkin, less citrus bitter. It’s smooth enough and consistent with it’s taste. The best part is the cinnamon/nutmeg finish. THe mouth feel is a little heavy on the carbonation for a spiced beer. It would have added to the cream if they had mellowed the bubble effect. Overall this isnt at all a bad pumkin beer, but if you have anything else as an alternative, you might have better luck their, like Lakefront Pumpkin.
