Sep 7, 2008 12oz. Bottle: Aroma of smoke, malts, and brown sugar. Poured dark brown in color with a medium-sized, light brown head that disappeared. Opaque. Lightly sweet flavor. Tastes of smoke, burning fire-wood, malts, and roasting. Medium body. Chalky texture. Soft to average carbonation. Smokey, dry finish.

Aug 24, 2008 Just began arriving in PA, so lets give it a go. Nice darker brown color with a big smoky bbq-ey aroma that has some chocolate and roast detectable. Flavor is quite smoky with lots of thick maltiness, some bbq, and a tad bit of chocolate. Mouthfeel was a bit watery, which I felt distracted me from fully enjoying what was otherwise a really good brew.

Aug 21, 2008 [1612-20080816] 355mL bottle. Super smoky wood aroma has hints of bandaid. Dark brown black body with a long-lasting creamy mocha head. Lightly smoked bandaid flavour. Medium-full body. Possibly the smokiest beer I’ve ever tried.

Aug 19, 2008 2008-08-16. Very dark brown-black body with a modest creamy tan head. Massively smoky aroma has a complexity I fail to appreciate and thus cannot elaborate on. Flavour is very smoke-dominant, but with a sweetness and hint of complexity thats probably rather nice if that’s your thing, unfortunately its not mine. Average plus palate. (3+). Aug 18, 2008 Bottle shared with Rudolf, Mabel, Frylock & Jerc @ Coles. Really smoking, mesquite aroma. Pours a nice black with light head. Taste has nice but not overbearing smokiness to it. Liked this one

Aug 12, 2008 My second pint from the Iron Barley in St. Louis, this draft pour came in a pint glass very black with a nice tan head and good lacing. Very smoky nose as befits its name with roasted malts and some burnt sugar. Medium mouthfeel. Lighter than it looks. Flavor is roasted malts and there is a dry finish. Good porter.

Aug 12, 2008 From the bottle at Map Room quite awhile ago. Black w/ small head. Pretty solid smoke, but not close to overwhelming. Balanced. A bit thin, but not too much so. I personally like a bit more smoke, but this was good.

Aug 9, 2008 12 oz bottle. Smells terrific like a nice roasted porter sitting next to slab of smoked ribs. Aroma is roasted malt, smoke and molasses. Flavor is big on raosted malt and smoke with some nice molasses and suger coming thru. My firsted smoked beer so did not know what to expect and smoke in the flavor threw me off a bit but got used to it by the end. Glad I picked this one up.
