Recieved in a trade with Vancer from awhile back. Thanks Vance! O’Fallon Smoke pours a coca cola brown. bordering on black with dark cherry highlight at the bottom of my pint glass when backlit. The khaki head grew to a solid three fingers on the pour and eventually fell to a thick cap leaving some mild lacing on its way down. After eacg drink patchy mountinous lacing runs down the glass.
The smokiness hits as soon as I pop the top but after some carbonation is released on the pour and some settling occurs the smoke fades slightly becoming more integrated. The smokiness sends up wonderful aromas of campfire with bacon cooking in the background. Roastiness hides underneath it all with a touch of dark chocolate. Each swirl ofthe glass brings the aroma alive.
Taste echos the aroma quite well. Smokiness takes the stage front, center, and rear. The smell of the open campfire and bacon grilling away in a cast iron skillet fill my mind. The smoke is done just right. With some more pondering the roastiness comes alive with a mild dark chocolate and cream like sweetness on the swallow.
The body is a little lighter then what you would expect. It’s on the lighter side of medium but it’s all at once smooth and creamy. Enough carbonation to tickle the tongue.
I boosted the drikability here because on a cool fall day, out in the yard with a slight chill this beer can be drank and enjoyed by the gallon. A cool day today brings back those thoughts.
O’Fallons Smoke is one of my favorite smoked beers available in the Chicagoland area. Easy to find, relatively cheap, and an enjoyable sipper. I’m enjoying this bomber with a couple squares of Mo’s Bacon Bar and I haven’t come across a better combination yet.

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 11/20 | May 30, 2008 Pours a deep dark black colour with a fairly large tan head with excellent retention. An interesting smoked salmon taste. Very heavy, chocolate, wood and pine tasting. Flavors of dark chocolate, ripe fruit and coffee. Skyview (4104), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA

From a 22-oz bomber pours an opaque dark brown brew with an average tan head that slowly dissipates to a fine film and off-white ring. Aroma of smoked bacon right off the bat, some roasted coffee, charred wood, a touch of chocolate and some flowery hops. Taste is full bodied, very light carbonation with more smoked pork character with additional flavors of coffee, dark chocolate and asphalt tar. Finish retains the smoked pork flavor that over powers any toasted dark malts that I really enjoy with porter. But since this is specially marketed for their smoked flavor, this is one of the better smoked dark beers from America I’ve tried. Nice smell to it. That is where anyhting positive ends for myself. I took one drink and thought it was terible. I waited 10 minutes or so and tried again. It was worse. Tried one last drink and decided that it tasted like I was drinking chewing tobacco. 1st beer I dumped into he sink since my last Miller high life. cheapdark (2050), Monacatootha, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 5/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | May 23, 2008 Much better than I expected for a beer labeled smoke. Weird smoked pork or bacon aroma. Gunk on bottom of bottle. Big dark brown black appearance. Smokey on the palate but just a little more than you’d expect with a good stout. Do I see scum on the top of this tea froth? Similar in taste and effect as many sweet stouts I’ve had. Decent friendly dark beer finish. juandela (2), kalamazoo, Michigan, USA does not count | 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | May 12, 2008 Fun beer. Not as big and as overpowering as I would have thought. Easy drinking and suitable for anyone who dares to venture into the land of flavored Stouts/Porters. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | May 11, 2008 Is it brown or red… so almost-black with small, quickly dissipated off-white head. Nose of smoke, burnt coffee, roast, and chocolate. The Initial taste is sweet chocolate, roast and smoke strong in the after. A sweet finish. Palate is clean, which compliments the strong roast and smoke and keeps the beer from being too heavy.
