My first smoky beer and am I impressed. This is tasty! It’s a campfire smoke scent with a nice deep flavorful smoky, creamy flavor. Very good!

Bottle at Map Room, Chicago. Pours an almost black with a tanned head. Sweet with a bit of dryness. Aromas of smoked and toasted malts. Light bodied. Medium carbonation. Dry smokey finish. Could use a bit more body.

From a 12 oz bottle. pours a thick and dense head. Aromas of dark malt and smoke. Aroma does not disapoint in the flavor as this beer completely fills the palate with smoke and dark malt from the porter. The porter is well executed and the smoke blends very well with it. Although there are lots of strong flavors here, this is a beer I could drink a lot of.

Poured a dark black color with foamy brown/tan head. Looks delicious. Aroma is sweet with a slight roastiness and a bit of baking chocolate. Flavor is lots of oaky smokiness, bit of peat smoke, and some roasted malts. Light on the palate. Overall, very nice smoke beer.

12 oz. bottle courtesy/shared with Naka. Pitch black with slight red hues. Foamy, khaki head that dissipates quickly. Nose is all sweet smokiness, a cross between a pig roast, brisket, and jerky. Taste is lots of caramel malt that’s overpowered by roast and peaty smoked flavor. A bit one dimensional and not balanced at all.

Pours a dark brown / black color with a small fizzy beige head that only lasted for a few seconds. The nose is a little bit of beef jerky mixed with banana runts candy. The fruit is very artificial. It tastes like beef jerky as well. I don’t get any real complexity, just smoke... and beef. Decent, but doesn’t really impress me. It is smoke for the sake of smoke, instead of using it to enhance the flavor.

12 oz. bottle, labeled “O’Fallon Smoke.” Light but noticeable smoke scent. The smoke is lemony, peaty, and sausage-esque. Chocolate from the porter, but I’m not getting strong scents other than the smoke. The aroma is pleasant, but it could benefit from greater strength and complexity. Pours a dark brown with an amber hue and a red glow. Small amount of short-lasting, beige/tan head. Somewhat extensive but short-lasting lacing. The smoke works well with the roasted malts in the flavor. Light citrus sourness. This is a nice, simple porter with a healthy dose of accessible smoke flavor. The underlying porter arguably is a bit bland, but that serves merely to let the solid smoke flavors shine. Long but light and very nice, dry, roasted-bitter aftertaste. Medium body. Crisp and lively in the palate. Easy to drink. O’Fallon Smoke is smokier than I expected, which is just fine for a smoked beer fan like me. This is a damn fine and underrated brew!
