The Smoke is evident in the aroma imminently. But not over so. A very well blended Porter. Rich Carmel malts and a hint of sweet. zebracakes (1215), Washington DC, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 16, 2008 Bottle. Pours dark brown, thin off white head. Aroma is smoked ham, malt, molasses. Flavor is the same with pine and anise. This is a pretty drinkable smoked porter. esjaygee (1519), Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 16, 2008 12oz bottle. Heavy smoke aroma. Dark brown, light brown slowly fading head. Carmel malts to go with a nice smoke flavor and a dry finish. Maybe the novelty of the smoke beer will wear off on me, but I’m really liking them now. unclemike (834), Ft. Riley, Kansas, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 15/20 | Mar 14, 2008 Lightly bacon-smoked without a hint of sweetness, somewhat disturbing swampy smell as well. Bland appearance: dark, reddish-brown body with a big-bubbled, yet very small amount of head. Flavor is better than the aroma in that the flavors blend well, yet it is still quite thin, with only a hint of the fullness it could have had rllevy (3), USA does not count | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 1/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 8, 2008 Dark, heavy, malty big beer. Frothy head.
Intensely smokey without tasting chemical, with a bitter coffee/chocolate finish. My bud light-swilling friend refers to this one as the "bacon beer". Excellent paired with food but not a beer I’d drink all night, since it’s so heavy. shendrix (478), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 8, 2008 As the top comes off, the scent of smoke, sugars, and caramelized malts greet you. The flavor is a dense, full-bodied mixture of oak and cedar smoke mingling with a thick, creamy buttered oats and caramel malt. Aggressive carbonation and alcohol warmth round this brew out. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 3, 2008 I drank the O’Fallon Smoked Porter (bottles, and lots of ’em) almost exclusively over my ’07 Christmas vacation, which is part of the reason why I now have a tough time getting through more than a couple of these in one sitting. The beer is dark, dark brown with a somewhat disappointing head. The smoke is there, but the beer always drops a really heavy, matly, oaty, toffee/coffee flavor too. It also seems a little thin in the middle, but what the hell. I’m being way too hard on this beer; all things considered, the O’Fallon Smoked Porter tastes pretty damn good.
