Color is a deep black with good carbonation and a big head. Taste is very smoky. Starting with a medium body that goes down with a crisp feel and a roasted flavor coming on. Finish starts with this roasted flavor turning to a strong smoky taste that is backed by a hint of sweetness then it ends with a faint bitterness. Overall it is the smokiest beer I have ever had and I like it. lb4lb (2011), Austin, Texas, USA

Black pour with a fizzy cola like tan head. Smell is very subtly smoked malt. Taste is mild, but noticeable smoke presence with a decent sweetness to it. Nice balance of getting the smoke in without making it overpowering. A touch thin, but still well done overall and a quality smoked beer that I enjoyed. Sammy (4050), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 10, 2007 Pours black with some white head. Smoke and some wood in aroma. Significant though conservative smokiness. Very quaffable porter, with a sourish finish. Some malt offset. This would be a regular if available here. Medium mouthfeel. mistersinalin (378), St. Paul, Minnesota, USA

It is smooth, yet strong in smoky after taste. A greasy cocktail fit for a BBQ, although it might over power the hickory. OldGrowth (1432), North Carolina, USA

Brownish black color, good head & lacing. Ok flavor, smoke, chocolate, charcoal. Lite body, creamy mouthfeel, smooth clean finsh. Good smoke flavor, whick I guess it should by the name. Kind of undistinguished otherwise. alexsdad06 (1099), Ohio, USA

Pours a clear dark brown to black in color with a rapidly diminishing creamy beige head that collapses into a thin ring around the glass. The aroma is mildly sweet chocolate with a hint of caramel and light smoke. The flavor is mildly sweet chocolate with roasted malts and noticeable smoked character. Medium light body. Good balance. Peat on the nose of this brown beer (must grab a nip of scotch..). Not as much of the peaty deliciousness in the body which I found a little watery, but still well smoked. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Sep 1, 2007 (bottle) Pours dark brown with a small tan head. Great aroma of smoked beef jerky. Flavor is also quite smokey but rounds out to a roasted finish. The first smoked beer I’ve tried, but I’ll definitely have to try more.
