Aroma is smokey and of leather or jerky or something. Taste is smokey up front and then mild roasted taste--not enough though. A little thin. Decent Finish. Too thin and not enough roast for a porter, but still not bad. kp (8500), Woodstock, Georgia, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 29, 2007 Bottle. Cola-thin black color. Smokey, roasted nuts, spoiled fudge. Average to thin body that evaporates quickly. Sweet, heavy, with hint of brandy in the finishing flavoring. Sampled @ BCTC 2007 Gregis (1136), Shawnee, Kansas, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Aug 27, 2007 Pours black with just a hint of ruby highlight and a small creamy tan head that diminishes to a thin skin on the surface. The aroma is of homemade jerky and smoked gouda along with notes of roasted malt. Medium to full-bodied and slick it finishes dry and somewhat bitter. The flavor is of dark roasted malts and smoked meat (much like a smoked brisket) along with hints of salt and faint metal, the latter of which fades as the beer warms. This beer would be killer with brisket, ribs or ham and would probably pair well with just about anything coming off the grill at your next cookout. This is one of the few beers that I’ve sampled that just screams out, "Pair me with different foods." I intend to do just that. illinismitty (1810), Nashville, Tennessee, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 25, 2007 Bottle that I found in the back of the pantry, given to me by Kevin. This must be going on two years old- yikes! Pours dark brown with a tan head. Aroma of maple, leather, and peat. Medium bodied with a smooth texture and medium to soft carbonation. Initial flavor of raisens, dark chocolate, and brown sugar that transitions to a tobacco and mild peat middle, with just enough hops to balance it out. Finish is earthy with notes of wet grains. I did not get a lot of smoke or even dark roast, but this was still very good. I would go so far to say that this drank like a good scotch ale, not a smoked porter. Perhaps the smokiness had faded in the cellar. cellardoor (45), St. Louis, Missouri, USA

Smoky wood nose, a bit meaty, light chocolate notes. Soft mouthfeel, yet well carbonated. Mild smoky wood flavors, lightly burnt toast, a touch of bitter chocolate. Great drinkablilty, particularly for this style. Well done! TipsyMcStager (946), Calgary, Alberta, Canada
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Aug 20, 2007 smokehouse aroma. Pours an opaque brown with no head. Liquid beef jerky with some sourness in the finish. If you’re into beef jerky hey this is the beer for you. Can’t really give this a thumbs up, but you can’t deny they’re trying something different.
