Bottle (12 oz.) Very dark and somewhat viscous looking pour that has a bit of a head that dies to a thin film of bubbles. Aromas are smokey: espresso, peat and charcoal. Mouthfeel is thinner than I expected after watching a kind of syrupy pour. Smoke is everywhere... and every now and again it bites a little too much and comes off as an almost artificial smoking (like Liquid Smoke.) Not the development that I had hoped for and it comes across as a little too unidirectional.

Bottle… Extremely dark ale with a small, creamy, off-white head. Great retention. The nose is a swirl of chocolate, hickory smoked meat and pipe tobacco. Bone-dry, mildly acidic flavor with a moderate dash of smoke. Leans on the bitter side of balance. Surprisingly, no chocolate or coffee notes. Mildly oxidized, cardboard-like taste. Medium-bodied with lively carbonation. Finishes ridiculously dry… over attenuated, maybe?

Poured a very dark color with a robust smoky with chocolate, touch of coffee aroma. Very nice, thick creamy head that was brownish-tan. Head covered till gone. Great lacing. Slightly sweet smoky flavor with chocolate, coffee and malt. Full body, soft carbonation, creamy thick texture, with a quick dry finish. This was a real pleasure to drink. It is a personal award winner to me. I will definitely add this to my favorite rotation. I used a stein on this one.

OFallon Smoked Porter poured a black colored body with a tan head. The aroma was smoky with some chocolate/coffee notes as well. The flavor was good with notes of chocolate, coffee, fruit, and a smoky finish. I can see why this won a few awards. Solid porter

Bottled. Very dark brown with fizzy light brown head. Malty and smoky with notes of hops and wood. A bit too mild and the body feels too thin.

Pours a dark brown with a small fading off white head. smells of smoky bacon, dark malts, and campfires. defintely a smoked beer. The taste is very smoky too, defintely get that bacon taste in there as well. Pretty thick and malty. Get a little sweetness in there in the finish. Aftertaste seems a little watery though. The smoke pretty much overpowers all else in this beer. Decent.

Original rating 6/25/07:12oz bottle. Black color with a thin head. Strong beachwood smoke aroma, almost pork like. Strong smoke flavor backed up with charcoal, bitter malt and English or noble hops for bitterness. Tasty fine. Re-rating, OSLO and Guerde’s Memorial Weekend Tasting, 5/23/08. Courtesy of STLWill. Dark brown color with no head. Smells like a roaring bonfire of beechwood. Lots more of the same in the flavor. A little sweet malt and caramel manages to squeek out, but otherwise, this is like shoving your head in a firepit.
