Pours a deep dark brown, topped by half an inch of light brown sudsy foam. This reduces to a thick ring and a thin film in a minute or so. Good lacing. Smoke and chocolate in the aroma. More chocolate than smoke in the flavor, and more roast than chocolate. Mellow in all of the flavors, blending nicely. Medium body, very gentle carbonation. Not an ass-kicker of a smoke beer, but still pretty good.

I thought this to be a rather novel beer; I’ve had Alaskan Smoked Porter before, and this is definitely smoked to a new extreme. I would recommend it as a beer experience although not as an everyday drinking occasion. It pours an opaque black with a moderate amount of tan head. Aroma is definitely of smoke, or as my wife (who doesn’t know anything about beer) described it, "ham." Taste is also a bit like a smoked meat. Very interesting, but I am not sure that you could call this beer "true-to-style." I’d recommend it, but wouldn’t call it a great beer. I’ve had this and O’Fallon’s pumpkin ale. They are both definitely extreme, but more in the way of curiousities than in a way that I would rank with elite beers. Nonetheless, I’ll keep trying what they put out!

bottle shared by Bockyhorsey via his SS - Pours a clear brown color with a small light tan head. Has a smokey malt aroma and flavor. Almost meat like. Medium body. Not bad at all. Nothing overwhelming. Thanks Bill for sharing.

Bottle shared with cbkschubert from my secret Santa. Good smoked aroma for this beer. Black body with decent head. Good smoked roasty malt flavor. Was one of about nine that night so notes look alot like shothand.

Pours a deep black with a one inch head that faed quickly to a soapy cap and thick ring, leaving behind a broken webbing of lace. Smell; the smokey aroma by far the dominant smell in this. There’s hints of some coffee and chocolate, but you really have to search for them. Taste; the coffee and chocolate come out more in the flavor than they did in the smell. The smoked flavors are strong, and make me think of bacon as I drink this, but they’re not to the point of being overwhelming. There’s also just a bit of hop bitterness present towards the end, Mouthfeel is medium bodied, and much more drinkable than I had anticipated.

Bottle courtesy of willblake, thanks again! Pours a dark brown with a light tan head. The aroma held a lot of smoke, some bacon, a bit of chocolate and roasted malt. Roasted malt and smoke filled out the flavor with some hints of chocolate to it as well. Kind of overly carbonated over a thin body with a smokey finish.

A wholesome and fresh aroma consisting of smoked salmon and the smell of a deep freeze full of berries and popsicles; just like my great grandma’s (no kidding, its a dead ringer). The flavor and palate are quite watery. In fact, the porter flavor is really lacking, leaving a salty salmon flaccidity. I attribute this lack of robust character to the hollow absence of hops and perhaps a stale malt. Aroma is the only positive.

I’m not sure how old the bottle had been sitting around the apt, but it seemed to age gracefully. Pours very dark brown with a garnet hue and a deep tan head. The aroma has lots of smokiness on the jerky side of things and a toastiness comes from the malt as well. Medium body with light soft carbonation. The taste starts much like the aroma, but a bit more on the watery side. The finish has a slight cola taste and some slickness. Not bad for a smoked beer, but I won’t need much more since it is a smoked beer.
