2006. This 12oz bottle nicely accompanied foie gras and wild boar. Poured a deep brown with mahogany highlights, like unfinished cherry wood. Aroma was at first akin to olive tapenade and liquid smoke, succeeded by dry meat and grainy coffee, some roasted malts, light but noticeable chocolate. Flavor was a different take on the aforementioned culinary scents. Good hop presence, holds the beer together well. Not at all what I was expecting. Finish is hearty and dry, the medium bodied palate was less than exciting, really mundane. This did go well with the meal it was paired with, however, because it was earthy and mild.

Bottle: Black with a medium tan head. Aroma has a light roastiness, some chocolate, coffee, and some smoke. Flavor, thin ashy texture, some slight chocolate, and some fruits. Watery body, just not that great.

i was quite suprised by this brew. it has a very good smoked taste. at first i thought it tasted a little like beef jerky.

12 oz bottle. Deep burgundy brown with a big frothy dirty tan head. Dies without lace. Pungent oily sausage. Smoke and black olives. Can’t say i find this too enticing. Grapey licorice. Smoke comes in with some drying. Tangy carb, almost medium body. Goes well with paté.

This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a medium sized head of foamy finely sized brown colored bubbles that were long lasting and left behind a opaque no visible carbonation dark brown colored body and a good lacing. The aroma was smoky and hickory wood. The mouth feel was weakly tingly at the start and at the finish with a strong smoky aftertaste. The flavor contained notes of malt and was smoky. Delicious and one I would certainly buy again.

great smoked beer only tried a few of these types but was a BIG fan of this one great aroma MMmmmm finished nicely just the right mount of smokiness great color a winner in my book GET SURLY

Nice dark body with a creamy ringy tan head. Aroma is a strong smoked grain with slight charred brown sugar and an odd presence of green grass and some fruity hop character. Flavor is a little light for the aroma. It’s a basic smoke mixed in with a grainy malt, along with an oily presence. Pretty good flavor too. A little too fizzy though.

12 oz bottle via csbosox(thanks!). Pours an almost black with ruby highlights and a large chunky tan head. Nose is VERY smokey with some mocha underneath. Taste starts with some sweet lactose or oats, some berries and even some hops...then some smokiness, and finishes with a smokey bittersweet chocolate. Thin body, almost watery mouthfeel...The smokiness is a bit overdone here as it is hard to really discern the other flavors. Still good, but would be better with a bit less smokiness.
