Black pour with short tan head. Charred wood, smoke nose. The flavor is sweet and smokey and peaty. Hints of caramel, chocolate, coffee. The roasted malts stick around in the aftertaste. Medium body is smooth. Above average.

Thanks to Humulone Red for the bottle! 12 oz bottle. Dark brown with nice head. Good amount of smoke in the aroma. Flavor is well balanced with roastiness and smoke. Goes down easy....good beer. Brings back memories of Bamberg.

(05.15.06) One pint, 6 oz brown bottle from DiCarlo’s, Mundelein, IL. Poured opaque brown black with small off-white head. No discernable carbonation. Smoky roasted malt aroma. Medium bodied porter that starts with light malt sweetness and smoke, roasted malt, fruit (raisins), expresso flavors. Finished dry with light roasted malt fade. Smooth, rich, and complex flavor character. Delicious.

Smells like smoked meat and coffee. Jet black with nice initial head. Initial flavor is smokey coffee. Some sourness/tanginess as it warms. Finish is chewy and dry. Overall good, but not overly complex- smokey flavor that settles into an average porter.

22 oz. Bottle. Pours a clear dark red with a nice sized auburn head and silky lacing. The nose has notes of malt and smoke. Nice smooth smoke malt flavor with chocolate and caramel notes. Pairs well grilled meats. Good beer.

Sampled at Noogfest-2. Pours dark chocolate brown. VERY smokey aroma that starts to take on a fishy hint. The flavor is toasted malts, smokey cedar wood, very light sweetness. Creamy light body. While this is OK, I could never drink an entire glass or bottle of this smoked stuff. It’s too much for me.

Pours an almost black and as the name implies it is a smokey aroma and flavor. A flavor of smoke, chocolate, and malt in that order. A dry almost sharp dry. It has a smooth even mouthfeel. A good beer.
