from the bottle. poured a black mahogany with a with a brown head that left no lacing. aroma got a nice sweet smoke like when you burn a fruit wood, a small amount of chocolate. roasted malts. flavor, got the chocolate first than some nuttyness, than the smoke came out. I am not really big on smoke beers but this one was good the smoke was just right for me (just a passing and not linger to long)

An easy mouthfeel on the first sip, pretty mild, where the smoke hit me was in the aftertaste. Very smooth chocolate flavor, bit of wood, nice aftertaste, good brew!

22 oz bottle, 2006 version - several months old: dark, dark brown with a rusty, garnet hue. Generous, light chocolate head – fluffy, large bubbles pop and diminish slowly. Cherry bacon aroma with lightly toasted pine nuts, chocolate and rye malts. Smoky, campfire flavour with an oaky richness and medium malty depth. Roasted peanuts and an underlying, subtle hopiness, round out a tasty brew.

Very meaty aroma, like summer sausage and italian sausage from a NYC deli. Obviously lots of smoked malt, and a dash of chocolate and nuttiness in addition to the meat, and the smoked bbq kind of aroma. a little thinner on the palate than expected. the flavor is ham, sausage, meat all the way. i like it.

This one poured a solid black color. The aroma is faint chocolate and a lot of smokiness. The flavor is a little sweet but contains a nice round of bacon, pepperoni, and smoked sausages. Good stuff right here.

(22oz. bottle) Pours a dark brown (almost black) body with an average-sized creamy light tan head. Mild aroma of roasted malt. Flavor of roasted malt and chocolate with a dry finish. Not sure where the smoke was...

It’s about time that O’Fallong improved their labels. The old ones looked like you could print them out on a home printer. Smells like an imperial stout, and only upon 2nd or 3rd whiff can you pick out smokiness, but it is clearly there. Fresh, clear nose that has a purpose. Nearly opaque body with light tan head and excellent lace. My initial impression is that of disappointment. There simply isn’t enough alcohol here to give it the rich full bodiedness it needs. By mid-bottle though, my big beer palate accepts the fact it is dealing with a "smaller" beer, and starts enjoying it.. Hops are evident, but this is not a hoppy beer. Pretty solid and worth the $3.50 price.

Poured a dark brown with garnet highlights and tan head. Aroma of smoke, coffee and roasted malts. Creamy, medium to full body with enough carbonation to hold everything up. Taste is malty sweet and almost like breakfast (bacon, coffee and maybe a burnt pancake) with some chocolate and caramel. Smokey finish, and the hops finally show up in an appreciable way. Alcohol level is a bit high for a session beer, but that wouldn’t really deter me with this beer.
