| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | May 15, 2006 Black with thick, tan head. Nose of smoke, ash, burnt wood, and bacon. Same flavor but toned down on all fronts. I’m still looking for the porter part of this brew. Medium/light, balanced body. Very drinkable. Not bad, but too light, especially for a porter. goldtwins (4084), Nesconset, New York, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 12, 2006 DL06: My last rating from the Dark Lord road trip extravaganza. Poured a very dark brown color with small tan head. Big smokey aroma over a fair amounted of roasted malt.. Light chocolate flavor followed by roasty malt and a decent balance of smoke. Thin body. egajdzis (3631), Spring Mount, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | May 8, 2006 Opaque black, with a small tan head, that left light lacing left on the glass. Aroma of chocolate malt, roast, some like smoke as well. Taste of sweet chocolate up front, some roasted malts, grains and finishing with dry, smoked wood. Somewhat astringent mouthfeel. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 5, 2006 Bottle. Dark brown hue with an average frothy off-white head that mostly diminished with good lacing. Moderate toasted smoky aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture. Light sweet smoky flavor with a light bitter finish of average duration. MullMan (1085), Bloomfield, New Jersey, USA

Black with a mocha head.
Smoky bacon and coffee come easily from this one.
Silky smooth with a sweetness underneath the smoky malt. Underrated or we all just shared a very good bottle. BeerHawk (1175), Huntsville, Alabama, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Apr 17, 2006 Bottle. Poured a deep black with a tan head. Big aromas of first thing in the morning while camping (ok, I’ll go with smoked bacon and coffee also). The flavor was smokey (like jerky) with hints of chocolate and some coffee. Slight bitter ending. tronraner must of had a heads up on the menu because this WAS the perfect pairing with Jay’s brats! Thanks tranraner for sharing this at the Tennessee Tasting!
