Pours a dark reddish brown with a dense 3 finger tan head that lasted and left spotty lacing. The nose is smoked malt and ham. The taste is smoke, burnt chocolate and coffee with some breakfast meats in the finish. Medium bodied. Good smoked beer. Thanks Tim! Zinister (1206), Houston, Texas, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 15, 2009 Thanks to unclemike for this beer. Pours black with a thin tan head. Nose of smoke, sweet roasted malts, caramel and chocolate. Palate is lighter than I hoped, but flavorful...smokey malts, earth, and ashy flavors. beernbourbon (300), chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 10, 2009 Pours black with beige head. Aroma delivers smoke, sausage, and some sweetness. Mouth is a bit lighter than deired, smoke flavor comes through nicely. Finish is sweet and smokey. Pretty good, but seems to be a bit one dimensional. jfenglish (212), Chicago, Illinois, USA

I’m sure this beer is good, and it’s probably true to the Rauchbeir style, but...didn’t enjoy this one at all, not one bit. Like drinking a campfire with the s’mores thrown in- smoky and sweet. I’ll have a whisky if I want smoke. eaglefan538 (2383), Wilmington, Delaware, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 4, 2009 Bottle from theisti. The pour was brown-ale-looking all the way. Head was average for the style, off-white colored. The aroma was firm smoke, roasty, some chocolate and caramel. The flavor followed, the roasty ashy smokey notes (not really meaty) at the fore. Overall body and flavor were weak for a porter, but dead on for a "smoked brown ale." Overall, a pretty drinkable smoked beer if there is such a thing. Decent. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 3, 2009 Medium sized brown head, retention is good with a decent lace. Clear brown color, light ruby glow. Smokey nose, phenolic, light roastiness. Body is almost medium, lightly creamy and oily, soft carbonation, sorta watery though. Light smokey flavors with notes of chocolate, light earthyness, pretty tame really. Dry, too clean, lightly smokey finish. Props to eaglefan for sharing, thanks Brian! tmohr (23), Illinois, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 31, 2009 Pours a dark brown with a noticeable smoky aroma. My first impression was barbecue sauce, but fortunately, the beer was actually pretty good. Definitely smoky, but balanced. daknole (2972), Plantation, Florida, USA

Nice smoky aroma with some roasted malt, chocolate, bacon and smoked almonds. Flavor has a great bit of smoke but not overhwhelming at all. Actually the smoke amd malt really do come together well in this beer. Very nice.
