| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 7, 2009 Dark brown pour with a cream colored head. Just the slightest lacing. Roast malt and slight smokey aroma. Tastes similarly some earthy roast malt, a little smoke, the faintest dark chocolate. A bit light bodied, bordering on watery. Not much bittering from coffee or hoping. All right for the style, but not great overall. Magjayran (1379), Durham, North Carolina, USA

This one pours black with a thin tan head. The flavor is charred and ashy with a bit of coffee in the background. It’s full bodied and rich and it just has that good with backyard steak taste that I love. I’d love some more of this. pjweaver (133), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA

Great aroma, fresh hops with jerky/rib/mesquite...smells like you could chew it hot. Pitch black pour with a brown head that stays around a while. Oaky smoke flavor with some hickory thrown in. Tasted a bit watered down compared to the aroma, lingering aftertaste like beef jerky. Smooth and bitey in the mouth. CanIHave4Beers (904), Des Moines, Iowa, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Dec 28, 2008 All sorts of things going on here with this dark smoky little treat. Aromas of fresh hops sing alongside a good smoky aroma. The flavor follows, nice and hoppy, good and smoky, but with some bitter chocolate notes that make this exceptional within it*s style. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Dec 22, 2008 Bottle - Pored black with a lasting tan head. When you drink this beer near room temp the smoke flavor comes through, not in the Bamburg sense, but its definitely there. A bit thin on the body. Kinz (2207), Glen Allen, Virginia, USA
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 1/5 | 9/20 | Dec 15, 2008 VRBT. Dark brown, light smoked aroma. Bacon and smoke. Thin. A bit sour, but not infected. Really not at all impressed, need to try again at some point, as I am not sure what I am missing here. nuplastikk (1205), Madison, Wisconsin, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Dec 6, 2008 500ml bottle. $3.49 across the river from Cincinnati in Kentucky. Mellow sweet chocolate and smoked malt aroma. Dark black color with a hint of stained glass red in the corners. Nice tan head. Big smoked malt flavor, nothing subtle or minimal about it. On point. Very rich and roasty with a great chocolate presence as well. This is top notch stuff. Wish I had picked up a few more. GoddessOfThunder (877), Orlando, Florida, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Nov 28, 2008 Black with a tan head, this beer is potent with smoke flavor. The smell is mostly roasted malt with just a little smoke, however the smoke really comes through in the taste and stays in your mouth for a while. This would be great with some barbeque.
