[At RBSG 2005] A brown beer with a small brown head. The aroma is sweet roasted - I don’t pick up any smoke. The flavor is sweet roasted with slight notes of raisins - again I don’t pick up the smoke. More smoked malt, please.

Bottled. Nearly black. Rich beechwood smokey aroma. Fairly sweet with medium body and notes of licorice. Perhaps the mouthfeel is a bit clean, but otherwise it very good and thoroughly well made.

Draught@HBF2009. Very deep rubyish brown colour, small brown head. Aroma is caramel malts, soome roasted notes as well as smokedwood. Mild nuttyness as well as fudge as well. Flavour is roasted malts, slight fruity notes and mild nuttyness. Served way too cold as the aroma and flavour open up only after it gets closer to room temperature.

Dark brown colour. Slightly murky. Smooth, smokey, chocolatey aroma. Soft body. Light smokiness with hints of chocolate, roast and toast at the back. Very nicely balanced.

Draught@HBF2009. Opaque black color, small brown head. Oaky smokey aroma, some toasty notes. Body is a bit thin, smokey, caramelly malty. Smoke and licorice in the aftertaste. Lighter than 6% indicates.

22oz bottle. Poured a dark, dark brown with a large sized off white head. Initial aroma of strong smoke that gave way to chocolate and roasted malts. Almost beef jerky smelling. Tastes of smoke (not overpowering), chocolate, caramel, and a light coffee finish. Lively body. I enjoyed this one.
