Commercial Description:
This is a limited edition of our award winning Smoked Porter. This beer was transferred from the fermentation tank five days after it was brewed to a fifty-three gallon freshly emptied bourbon barrel where it was aged for one year. Over that year we carefully adjusted the storage temperature in order to allow the beer to work in and out of the wood of the charred American oak barrel. This process of aging allowed the flavors of the bourbon to blend with the beer, leaving a seamless transition of flavor and aroma with hints of vanilla and caramel. The smoke flavor of the beer takes a backseat to the charred oak of the barrel to make for a perfect blend of smoked porter and bourbon.

Bottle at pre-DLD shared by someone. Aroma is of big smoke and charred black malts. The flavor is smoky, hammy, barbeque, with a pretty balanced and light oakiness to it. Nice.

Poured a dark black color with good head not much lacing. Aroma was lots of smoke and ash, some alcohol as well. Flavor was lots of the same, chocolate as well as some whiskey in there. Not a bad beer nothing amazing though.

I was extremely pleased with this one, which was somewhat of a surprise to me. Being that it is brewed locally in my area, I wasn’t expecting a whole lot even for the price I paid. It was relatively easy to drink with a bit more than just a hint of whiskey flavor. I would not recommend for whiskey dislikers. However I found it very enjoyable and wished for more after the bottle was empty. I approve.

Dark brown with a crisp brown, light head. Pleasant aromatics of smokey whiskey with nice graininess. Very well-stated and well executted. The flavor is more characterized by smoke than is the aroma. Good flavor and an awesome grill-out brew.
