| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jan 18, 2008 22oz bottle, no date thanks to Joey @ South Bay Drugs & Liquor--he replaced my bottle that leaked during shipping. My label says 6.7% ABV. Black with mahogany edges and a one finger tan head, slowly fading to a ring and film. As expected, the aroma is full of roasted grain and bittersweet chocolate and some vanilla. There is also just the tiniest hint of soy. Flavor is much more roasty and drier than the aroma led on. There was also a bit of piny hops. Dry finish with bitterness peaking at a 3. Light to moderate carbonation with a medium body. hapjydeuce (774), Del Mar, California, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 17, 2008 Bottled from BevMo. Pours bubbly black with dark beige edges and a small vanilla-colored head. Some lace that doesn’t stick too long. Robust coffee and chocolate aroma with roasted malt and hops. The flavor is less impressive however. Still a good dose of coffee and French vanilla cream with burnt wood, but also a metallic finish. Decent mouthfeel, lots of carbonation, but a very pleasing dry and bitter finish. It could be a top notch stout with some follow up from the aroma. shadey (1501), Rochester, New York, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jan 16, 2008 22oz bottle, relatively fresh. Poured into a brandy snifter the color is oily black with thin wisps of dark tan cream. As soon as I brought the glass close to my nose it knocked me back; The smell is incredible, rich sweet chocolate. I don’t even want to both with the rating because I’m just too involved with the aroma of this beer. I’m hypnotized. This is phenomenal. The flavor isn’t quite as good as the aroma, but the body is really nice. This was really a pleasure. Zinister (1207), Houston, Texas, USA

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 7, 2008 Updated: Feb 22, 2008650 ml bottle from Bevmo. Fresh batch of 2008. Pours an opaque black color with a tan head that recedes very slowly and leaves plenty of lacing. The aroma is strong with layered malted milk chocolate and biter dark chocolate. The flavor shows more chocolate a hint of coffee, walnuts, and plenty of biter hops. The mouthfeel is smooth and creamy with lively carbonation. The Finish is long with bittersweet chocolate and decent biter hops. Overall: This is a great stout, stock the cellar. Recommended. NeroWolfe (13), USA
