Commercial Description:
This foreign-style stout is similar to bottled Guinness; a big dark brew that is rich and malty with plenty of roasted barley character. Six different malts combine to create this fantastic stout that is layered with chocolate-like flavors. You like coffee, you'll love this beer.

Thyanks to cbkschubert for this one. Pours deep brownish with 2-finger brown head and great lacing. Aroma is roasty dark malt, nuts, chocoff, hops. Tastes roasty dark patent malty, with chocolate, nuts, mild coffee, and a decent complexity.

Out of a 22oz bottle it poured a pure black with a average dark beige head. Aroma of roasted malts and barely. Flavor is sweet, rich and full. Strong hits of caramel, dark malts and dark chocolate. Finish is pretty neutral making it very drinkable. Not bad at all

Draft, consumed at Oggi’s Canyon Country 11/5/07. Coffee, toffee aromas go with the very dark brown liquid. Tastes like there might actually be some adjuncts to enhance the coffee flavor. Burnt toffee in there, too. A little dry but not particularly astringent. Low carbonation. Didn’t notice any hops. Very clean finish with almost no aftertaste. Best Oggi’s beer I’ve had.

On tap at Oggi’s Vista. Super dark brown color. No head. Low carbonation. Low aroma, but a little malty aroma, which is nice. Sweet, good. One of my favorites here.

Thanks to Hellbilly for this HQ underated beer! Pours pitch black with THICK tan and honeycomb esque lacing. Wonderful french vanilla coffee combined with a nice roasted malt aroma. Flavor follows suit with hints of chocolate, & caramelized sugar. Sweet clean finish, well balanced and complex!

22 oz bomber purchased at Southbay Liquor. This black stout lives up to its name alone just by the appearance it will show. Such a pure pitch black you can tell evil was behind this and the rigorous forth head will provide proof this is a dark beer to reckon with. Has a very sweet and robust aroma that is decked with dark roast malt and hints of sugar or sweet caramel candy. In the flavor, the same can be said because of the rich dark malt and lush texture that combines for a sweet and delightful creation.

GABF ’07. Pours black with an average, rocky, dark brown head, lasting with good lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (molasses, chocolate, coffee), light hops (herbs), average yeast (leather, earth) with notes of tar and vanilla. Medium bodied, creamy texture, soft carbonation, and a metallic finish. Average duration, moderate sweetness, light acidity and bitterness.

Black with ruby edges, thin espresso head, moderate lace.

Roasty malt aromas, chocolate and dark roast coffee.

Flavor was espresso coffee, light chocolate, touch of milky sweetness.
coffee flavor went on long into the finish.
