| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 12, 2009 Half year old keg thanks to some friends at a certain brewery. Pours a deep black with a resilient brown head. Aroma of chocolate, leather, coffee, alcohol, toffee. A bit of oxidation evident. Taste is leather, tobacco, yeast, tons upon tons of smoke, chocolate and a few dark fruits. A bit thin on the mouthfeel, but still a bit creamy. Interesting. bw1982 (77), , Florida, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 9, 2009 pours a great dark brown to black color. it doesn’t really compare to guiness as the flavors are sweeter and softer. the only thing i’ll say against it is that it has a somewhat weak palate for such a dark beer. the flavors are great, there are some chocolate flavors and lots of coffee. really great beer for a brewery/restaurant. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 16, 2009 Bomber. Pours a really dark mahogany color, almost pitch black. A frothy, bubbly, cream colored head leaves random spots and flares of lacing behind. Aromas include fresh espresso beans, dried dark cocoa, mocha, and some vanilla, with a roasty grain profile and some earthen hop notes. The nose is really well balanced, which leads in to the equally solid flavor profile. Dark cocoa and roasty espresso again kick things off, but complementary elements of creamy oatmeal, lactose, and vanilla all add their own twist on things. Medium-bodied, semi-dry, and creamy, this is an entirely quaffable stout, though it lacks a bit of body. Though I’m far from blown away, I’d be content to session this brew all night. Dark black in color, thick aroma and the dark roasty malt was awesome. Loved the smokiness with the malts and the coffee and chocolate flavors. A very good Stout.

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 9, 2009 A- Pours a jet black hue with a small, tan, creamy head that is mostly dissipating, thin lacing slowly creeps down the glass walls
S- Nose is of sweet roasty malts, nice blend of chocolate-over-espresso, hints of brown sugar and alcohol
T- Initial taste is a mix of roasted coffee and chocolate sweetness, opens up and finishes with a bitter, dry hoppiness
M- Medium-bodied stout with a watery texture, mild carbonation
D- Very smooth and solid stout that is easy-drinking, I can see why it won a silver medal at the GABF. This is a great American Stout that is an exemplar for this genre, however it lacks any outstanding complexity or bold taste one would find in top-tier IRS’s Glouglouburp (2839), Montreal, Quebec, Canada
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 7, 2009 In short: Fruity and slightly roasted chocolaty stout. Very drinkable even if very standard.
How: Bottle 22oz. Drank fresh a few weeks after receiving it from Hellbilly, thanks a lot Joshua.
The look: Black body topped by a tan ring of foam
In long: Relatively strong nose, roasted and dark fruits. Taste is very standard. Black malts, figs, dates, slightly roasted, chocolate cake. The beer is a bit sweet and there’s no hops in there to balance it out. Lively carbonation, light-medium body. Not very tasty and feels rather common but this is nonetheless a nice session. Most effective black magic since that damn “shrink penis” spell that was used on me. Repeatedly. Dickinsonbeer (3494), Hoboken, New Jersey, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 6, 2009 Bomber. Pours a nice deep dark brownish black with a nice lasting of beige head and some lace. Aroma is tons of vanilla and chocoalte mix, with some off vegetal and DMS and green acetaldehyde and slightly off. Chocolate and mild roast flavor, more vanilla, green and acetaldehyde with a bitter drying dusty yet slick finsih. meh. timfoolery (484), California, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 25, 2009 Bottle from DTM. Poured like a typical stout with medium head. Between the thinness of the brew (watery), the lacking palate, and the odd flavor, I’m not a huge fan. Ok beer.
