Commercial Description:
This foreign-style stout is similar to bottled Guinness; a big dark brew that is rich and malty with plenty of roasted barley character. Six different malts combine to create this fantastic stout that is layered with chocolate-like flavors. You like coffee, you'll love this beer.

Fresh from the 22-ounce bottle its sets an onyx color, the head a two-fingered chocolate brown, creamy and as it ever so slowly vanishes, the lace forms a thick and surrounding sheet. Nose is full of chocolate, sweet and chewy, hops and a bit of smoke backs it up, a delectable treat for the olfactory senses. Front is rich in malt, sweet and thick, hops and burnt grain provide a delectable spicy bitterness, top is full bodied and rich. Finish has a fair to middling acidity, the hops pleasingly spicy, a touch of warming and the aftertaste thick and dry, a stout lovers dream.

Dark pour with a small tan head. Aroma has coffee and burnt roasted malts. Flavor has mostly coffee some sweetness, a bit thin and simple for the alcohol content. Fades fast, not much of a finish.

22 oz bottle. Aroma of chocolate and dark roasted malts. Hint of coffee in the background. Flavor wasn’t a good as the aroma, a bit flat. A lot of the same, roasted malts, chocolate, and a hint of smoke/burntness in the finish. Flavor was not as complex as I had hoped. Mouthfeel was to thin for me, but there was a good bitterness that lingered.

The color is like that of a syrupy oil pan. An interesting silky head, copper in complexion, boils up at the top of the glass. The smell is much like huffing a paper bag full of stale air, to put it nicely as I can. Taste wise, the stout is teeming with a rich, dark chocolate finish. Notes of coffee hover ominously in the background of the beer, but the overall impression is a forgettable one. More like an aged chocolate shake than a suitable beer.

Bottle @ tasting by jbrus. A dark brown, almost black colored beer, with a beige head. The aroma of roasted malts with some fruits, milk chocolate. The taste is bitter, chocolate and coffee with roasted malts. A little sweet of black berries. The aftertaste is bitter from chocolate with coffee and a little sweet.

Nearly black pour. Very small tan head. Aroma of chocolate covered caramel and a hint of worthers original candies. Flavor is a tad roasty with caramel, chocolate and a hint of coffee.
