Poured a medium and cloudy/murky brownish-orange color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of caramel, toffee, earthy, fruity, light peat and a little smokey. Tastes of toffee, sugary sweet, toasted malts, fruity, and smoke. Lively body. This was by far, one of the best Scotch Ales I’ve had in a while. Well done! | 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Oct 10, 2005 Mahogany pour, mostly lasting off-white head. Rich and chewy toasted malts are sweet and fruity (grapes, berries, caramel apple). Bitter on the palate, drying out immensely in fraction of seconds. Medium-full bodied, fair carbonation. Ridiculously hoppy imo which is too bad, because it has the great maltiness to make a fine malty barleywine or scotch ale, but this citric acidity is really too much. goldtwins (4080), Nesconset, New York, USA
