Commercial Description:
(Double Amber/Red Ale) An extremely hoppy beer! Flowers and pellets in all stages of the process. A strong beer with extreme hop aroma and flavor with a nice rich malt backing. If you look closely, you may even see a green tinge in the head.

The most anticipated beer for me at GABF, did not dissapoint. Pours a darker caramel amber color, nice tan head. Aroma is a big wave of hops, lots of west coast hop juice with a little caramel/nuttiness to it as well. Flavor is hugely hopped again. but the darker malts really back it up nicely.

GABF05: Oh, man, I could’ve plopped myself down in front of this booth and drank this stuff all night. I did for a bit, but had to move on. Rich caramel hue; frothy head. Smooth, Richie Rich, creamy, and perfectly carbed. Incredibly flavorful, shining with caramel, toast, and multigrain bread. Wafty aromas of delicate fruit (sweet orange, zippy tangerine, passion) and resinous hops (seemed to coat the inside of my mouth with hop oil). Great balance, even with its intensity. Cozy, rich and rewarding beer.

Pour copper amber with a thin dense khaki head...smell is piney...lots of bitterness with some nice vanilla something in the bitter onslaught too...

GABF ’05. Uninspiring brown body. Orange citrus, oily PNW hop aroma with ints of milk chocolate sweetness. The flavor brings a torrent of hop bitterness and caramel. Lime, orange citrus hops.

GABF 2005: Muddled coppery hue with a solid creamy head and outstanding lace, beauty is in the eye of the beerholder. The aroma smacks of big hop presence, piney, citric, sappy, spicy and earthy. Oh there is some sweet caramel malt about but you really had to work to find it. The taste is surprisingly somewhat, that is somewhat balanced between the extreme hops and caramel backing. Another interesting part was the yeasty and bready aftertaste that I was not expecting and honestly didn’t like. The palate was heavy and smooth but then the aftertaste didn’t measure up to a five. Yes it is a very good beer however it is not a top 50 brew in my book.

I feel this to be truly whompuseque. It completely whompified my taste buds and added a whomp feeling to my day.

GABF 2005. Nice foamy, persistent off-white head and a clear, deep golden body. Aroma is like a field of hops with a nice, sweet malty floor. Great maple character blends nicely with fresh, dried citrus peel hop qualities. Very nice balance with a big hop kick and ample malt backing with restrained sweetness. Good palatable texture. I love the imperial red "style" and this is a great example of why.

a light brown color w/ a nice tan well laced head hints of green in that head and some great lacing. (if I could i’d give it a 6 here). Big floral hop aroma w/ pieces of carmel, and citrus notes. WEll coated and carbonated a little oily and a creamy finish. Flavor is a big floral hop, grapefruit and a nice carmel finish. PErfectly balanced. This is just SOOO damn good.
