(Bottled) Clear, dark amber with a small, but lacy head. Toffee-malty, lightly vinous aroma. Lightly grainy, toffee-ashy-malty flavor with mild bitterness and some dry oaky notes. Medium-bodied, medium-carbonated palate. A decent, but not very interesting brew.

beer looks good, dark brown and hazy. giving one to anticipate good things. beer is tea like with a straw character and moderate and overly subdued hop and fruit component. brew is creamy and a touch slick with receding head. i suppose a touch of sweetness that certainly is more caramel or toffee. a bit better than decent.

0.5L bottle. Muddy brown colour, almost no head. Strong sweet malt aromas. Strong malt continuesin the mouth, with some spiciness and peach and just a whiff of raspberries, all acompannied by very pleasant sourness. Hops almost unnoticeable. Aftertaste extremely long with a wonderfull sweet and sour sensation that lasts and lasts. A wonderfull beer.

Bottle. Dark amber color with a medium, creamy, long-lasting, beige head. Malty aroma with some hops, some nuts, mild fruitiness, and light toastiness. Sweetish malty flavor, a bit of caramel, a bit of biscuits and slightly bitter finish. Rounded and medium-bodied. Not bad.

Hazy nut brown color, lots of lace, huge beige head. Woody hoppy, a bit malty nose. Metallic, nutty malty flavor. Nutty and dry aftertaste. Similarities with Fullers ESB.

Bottled@SBWF2007. Coppery amber colour, mediumsized creamy beige head. Aroma is a lot of fruits and some wooden hints. Flavour is much the same along with some mild sourness and earthyness also.

Page 156 of Michael Jackson’s Great Beer guide. A very fruity, flowery beer with an great English hop finish. Romantically this is the way I thought all the bitters would be when I came to England but sadly they weren’t. Only 175 of MJ’s Classic 500 Brews to go.

bottle. Copper colour, impressive and very persistent head. Lovelly aroma of wild berries. Fruity and malty flavours, hints of orange. Well-rounded with flowery hops. Long-lasting bitter-sweet aftertaste, again with hints of orange.
