| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Oct 21, 2005 Nice looking ugly light brown/orange/copper with a generous amount of yeasties swimming around. Huge, rocky, light tan head. Aroma of roasty malt and strong, piney hops-smells like a cross between an amber and an ipa. Roasty malt beginning quickly yields to bitter, piney hops, some clove in the finish with yeast adding a bit of depth. Medium/full creamy body, easy drinking. Excellent. iratherbe (255), Marlton, New Jersey, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Sep 28, 2005 Strong amber hues with a solid stable and built head. Some continued carbonation flow, but nothing to take away from the crisp, fresh flavors of the malted grains. Balanced well with some hop essence on the nose. Subtle complex tastes. Went well with good Mexican food after the sampling. tronraner (1913), Seymour, Tennessee, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Sep 18, 2005 Bottle. Pours an orangish iced-tea color with a fast-rising off-white head that eventually deflates to a reasonable size. The aroma is sweet, woody, and a bit floral. The flavor is wood and grapefruit up front, then a tour of various malts, then some floral honey sweetness, then a warm and smooth hop finish. Not the kind of thing I would drink for leisure, but this would be excellent with some good food. HenrikSoegaard (4323), Randers, Denmark

| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 25, 2005 Monsrtous, rocky, off-white head that looks good...for a belgian ale. I have never seen bubbles rising to the surface like this in an English ale. Color is a nice orangey amber. Aroma is spicy, floral, and different from anything I have ever smelled...an almost maple-like, floral fruitiness and some undistinct malt. The hops dominate but there is also some orange pith and passionfruit esters as well. An odd flavor profile that it is long and complex though not completely pleasant. A nice bitterness rides thruoghout the palate. It starts out with malt and spicy hops, a solid acidity coupled with some hard water character at mid palate then a staightforward, overly solid malt returns in the finish with a big hit of tangy hops and that odd, overcooked, maple/floral flavor integrating. Unique for a production brewery beer. It reminds me more of an underpitched (too little yeast for fermentation) homebrew than the beer I drank in 6 pack bottles as late as 1997.
