From the bottle pours a hazy deep amber with a thick frothy off white head that keeps a respectable cap till the bottom of the glass. Aroma of yeasty (bottle conditioned duh) alcohol with woody and raisin tones. Flavour is roasty malt with a bitter finish and lingering hoppy aftertaste. Not my one of my fav. Bitters but a nice bottle conditioned example.

(on bottle) Unclear, toffeecloloure with a small, lasting, white head. Woody and fruity aromas, with a backdrop of caramel and smoke; Sniffed this one for a long time; goood. Parshly bitter, malted flavour and a tart, refreshing finish.

Bottle Conditioned, 500 ml. Orange amber with short lasting head. Full flavoured premium bitter, heavy for a traditional beer, but drinkable all the same. This is a warm fireside, keep the cold out beer, cosy chat and never mind the time. There is a fruity maltiness abounding, fleshy but subtle, and hidden hop notes, mine was aged somewhat!! Woody resinous finish giving a solid statement to a decent beer.

this is a very nice bitter ale, due to bottle condition i think. murky copper colored with a thin, regular off-white head. aroma: yeast, malty, bit caramel, citrus and flowers maybe. taste: yeast, citrus(grapefruit), roasted malt, gooseberries, sourish and bitter. finish is quite long and bitter. thin/medium body. nicely balanced, tasty ale.

Murky amber appearance. Lively aroma of passion fruit, caramel, brown sugar, plum. The flavour, however, is underwhelming (it may not have been a word when they wrote that song but it is now). It’s got a slightly dusty, vaguely malty character to it. One of the most annoying things in beer is when it smells great and then tastes like hardly anything at all. That’s what I’m getting here.

Marcello’s Wine Market, Baton Rouge, La. - 500 ml bottle. Medium orange pour with a luxuriously thick creamy head and thick lacing. Had the same fizzy problem others have had - I attributed it to a bit of frozeneness due to the over cooled hotel mini fridge! Fruity aroma, some floral notes, very fresh. Delectable bitter flavor. Sweet and bitter at the same time with some mild citrus notes and hints of nuts. Very clean smooth mouthfeel. This is the knd of bitter that I could drink all night sitting in an English Pub. More please!

Bottle from Whole Foods, Raleigh. Gusler, your review of this one made me laugh my ass off! Pours dark straw with a gargantuan head. In fact, this one started fizzing over the bottle as soon as I opened it. Aroma of perfumy florals, hopcit, some grassy hints. Tastes very spicy, with a firm hopcit and fruit presence. Unique. Medium on the palate. Finishes hoppy, fruity, and with a dryness and smokyness that makes it stand out in the ESB realm, although my bottle states that it is a pale ale. Whatever you call it, it is very good, and for my money, worthy of repeated drinking. My glass looked like a milkshake glass when I was finished.
