Bottled: Hazy orange coloured. Tiny beige head. Hoppy and fruity nose. Light smoked, fruity, chocolatish flavour. Has a very nice lasting bitterness in the end. The label says "Royal Oak Traditional Bitter", but I think its this one.

Cloudy orange brown beer with a huge thick tan-coloured head. Prominent hop aroma, with earthy and spicy notes. Faint citrus in there as well. Nice balanced flavour, slightly herbal and yeasty with some dry fruity esters in here as well. Finish is dominated by spicy hops. As the beer comes up in temperature fruitiness becomes much more pronounced in the nose. A nice rounded brew.

I don’t know who this "Pope" guy is, my bottle having no references to him... but this was a fine ESB. Pouring a hazy copper tone with a froathy, soapy off-white head, this has a floral and herbal hop aroma along with some orange fruitiness. The taste is a lightly sweet caramel, citric fruit, and earthy herbal hops. A very well balanced brew, this has a midly bitter finish.

Copper color with a large light beige head. Sweet pipe tobacco aromas with raisins and hazelnuts. Mild fruit (raspberry and mild mango) with dry caramel flavors. Finish is mildly earthy and mild hops stick in the linger. I enjoy this from a more traditional ale point of view.

This is the former Eldridge Pope/Thomas Hardy beer, now resurrected (along with some other Eldridge Pope brews, Thomas Hardy Ale included) by O'Hanlons. Rich mid amber colour. I wouldn't call this a pale ale, despite what the (old) label might suggest. More of a strong bitter. And a very fruity one at that. Plums and damsons. But underpinned by an assertive hoppiness, leading to a clean, slightly acidic finish, which counterpoints the fruit effectively. Medium bodied and well balanced. Rather nice.
