Sweet caramel malts with earthy, floral, herbal hops front and centre. Hazy copper-tan coloured body is topped by a generous and lasting off white head that sticks to the sides of the glass. Caramel malts are strong in the flavour with fairly assertive balancing bitterness. Floral, leafy, herbal hops are very present in the mouth. Medium body with moderate to lively carbonation. Half pint glass. Cellar temperature. Bottle (BB 240707, Bièropholie, Jun-05).

Bottle. High creamy and lasting off-white head. Hazy orange body. Fruity and flowery aroma with a touch of hops. Fruity and moterately bitter flavor. A bit watery with low carbonation and a short aftertaste.

White Cliffs Winter Ales Fest. Gravity. A fresh and lively bitter with a huge dollop of sweet pale malt nicely mingling with a gentle (but increasing) tangyness. The result is a lively and happy premium bitter. A little sweet, but pleasant enough.

This is the same as the pale ale, as it’s labelled in the US, to appeal to that market. It is a bitter, and a very good one. A fruity tasty bitterness, greapefruit from Challenger and Goldings hops and lots of good comlex malting. Smooth, great lacing. Strong on the palate.

Bottle (500ml). Hazy deep amber with a large foamy lasting tan head. Sweet, Pretty standard sweet grain aroma, bready with lightly funky herbal hop bitterness; standard. Tastes more bitter, there’s an iron/peat tang to it - still nice and malty, but the finish is fairly long and bitter. Average chewy body, dry and astringent, a bit of a hash aftertaste, and ultimately pretty sour. Odd.

Bottle 500 ml, Smokeless Joe
Light haze, amber brown, creamy medium head, and good lacing 3+.
Aroma: creamy, spiced by hop touches, fruity finish with gentle woody strikes.
Medium bodied, woody, slight smoky even nutmeg and hazelnuts. Bitter hopping at edges. Light, clean well rounded ale. Long lasting finish.

Bottle from the LCBO. Amber body with a small creamy white head. Grapefruit vomit aroma - WTF? Something else I don’t feel like deciphering after the first impression. Moderate bitterness, grapefruit, sweet malt undertones. Average palate. Weird. Flavour is much better than the aroma, but is still just okay. It is possible this is a bit off, but I’m not sure how.
