| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Sep 23, 2007 bottle. Copper colour, impressive and very persistent head. Lovelly aroma of wild berries. Fruity and malty flavours, hints of orange. Well-rounded with flowery hops. Long-lasting bitter-sweet aftertaste, again with hints of orange. hobbersr (412), Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 3, 2009 Pours an amber colour with a big tan coloured head. Aroma is sweet and light. Caramel, dandelion, spices, and citrus. Flavor is as refined as a good businessman from London. Caramel and brown sugar take the start with soft fruits and dandelion coming in behind it, a nice hint of citrus goes the whole way through and a spicy finish quenches and makes you want more. Soft effervecent mouthfeel. Excellent bitter! ClarkVV (3578), Allston, Massachusetts, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 5, 2004 Updated: Jun 1, 20042004 bottle. Weird style here, is it a bitter? Is it an EPA? How bout an English Pale Bitter?. Wonderful pour, brilliant deep orange-gold. The small amount of yeast they inject (post filtration) dosent really add any significant cloudiness, but hey, post filtration yeast is better than no yeast, as the saying goes. . . Ahem, back to the beer, it's got a good medium body, some floral hops, orange blossom honey flavors, light sugar cookies and some dry yeasty flavors on the finish. I suppose this is pretty basic but everything is done right and it tastes of good quality, though it's hard not to subscribe to the more ingredients makes a better beer. I think it's wonderful example of the EPA style, though the aroms is not particularly strong (light nuttiness, yeast, lightly acidic hops). Oh ya, this had some of the best/most lacing I've seen on any beer. Shag (1923), Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 12, 2004 The aroma is quite spicy with some citrus and bread. The appearance is a dirty orange with a moderate head. The flavor is fairly bitter with some grass and citrus fruit. The aftertaste is quite bitter. This is a pretty decent pale ale. thedm (3836), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 9, 2004 This bottled brew poured a large sized head of fine to medium sized mostly lasting off-white colored bubbles that left behind a good lacing and a dark orange brown colored yeasty semi-transparent body. The aroma was mediumly hopped with a good caramel note. The mouth feel was initially mildly harsh with a medium hoppy feeling that surprisingly disappears in the finish rather quickly leaving behind only a mild hop aftertaste. The flavor contained notes of mild caramel mixed with hops and a fair amount of malt keeping the bite down. chriso (4849), London, Greater London, England
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 26, 2004 Updated: Jan 27, 2004This is the former Eldridge Pope/Thomas Hardy beer, now resurrected (along with some other Eldridge Pope brews, Thomas Hardy Ale included) by O'Hanlons. Rich mid amber colour. I wouldn't call this a pale ale, despite what the (old) label might suggest. More of a strong bitter. And a very fruity one at that. Plums and damsons. But underpinned by an assertive hoppiness, leading to a clean, slightly acidic finish, which counterpoints the fruit effectively. Medium bodied and well balanced. Rather nice.
