Extremely complex somewhere between, beer, wine, brandy and cognac. At only 3 years (two less than the recommended waiting time) it was strong herbal, spicey and potent. Very different from anything I had tasted yet, so it makes it very hard for me to rate. Very low carbonation and head, but pours into a rich, beautiful amber colour. Very strong and acidic, think it was still too young. Alcohol very present. charcot25 (181), Cordova, Tennessee, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Aug 5, 2007 2005 bottle. Pours a deep amber to light brown with an ample off-white head. Aroma is sweet with hints of dates and spices. Taste is also sweet and malty with more dark, tarry fruit, light smoke. The sweetness is balanced mainly by alcohol. Dryer palate and finish than I expected. mybrainhurts (214), North Dakota, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 16/20 | Aug 5, 2007 2006 EDITION: Strong and boozy bite hits the nose. Grape wine, thick molasses, plums, dates, and notes of sour whiskey. Spicy alcoholic taste dominates. I detect some ripe purple grapes and brown sugar. However, I’m afraid, a bit lost in the sea of alcohol. A potent brew for sure. No wonder they want you to sit on it for a decade! Still a world class beer, even though a bit hard to drink. cbkschubert (2027), Cochise Co., Arizona, USA

Nice lacing. Aroma is toasted malt, brown sugar, and esters. Flavor is sweet malt and fruit (raisins, apple). Medium to full body. The esters linger on the palate. Alcohol is slightly noticeable. A good beer. Quack-Duck (3339), Bodensee/Schwarzwald, Germany
