JoeMcPhee (3671), Jackson Heights, New York, USA Jan 11, 2007 Very pale straw colour approaching colourlessness. Aroma is light, softly perfumey with notes of melon, pear, and faint banana. Quite fragrant, especially as it warms up a bit. Light-bodied with a hint of grassy herbaceousness. Quite subtle but well-integrated. The perfume/floral character intensifies over the whole glass. Quite pleasant. austinpowers (2827), New York, New York, USA Mar 15, 2004 Another smooth ginjo from Japan. It's amazing how many terrific sakes there are from Japan (and how many lame US-made ones). From what I've read, the US sakeries use inferior rice, which explains their sad product. Whatever the cause, Ginsuika doesn't disappoint. OK, Ohyama Prefecture isn't Niigata Prefecture, but you've got to give this sake credit for a light candied aroma and a smooth, (mostly) alcohol-burn-less delivery.
