Cask at ’Spoons Festival, Milton Keynes. Dark gold. Sweet caramel malt aroma. Pleasant biscuity, buttery flavour and mid bitter finish. Full of taste for its ABV; an excellent sessioner.

Cask-conditioned at the White Lion, Bristol, 20/8/07. Pale amber, with a decent, lacy white head. Aroma of floral hops with a touch of orange sweetness. Flavour started malty before a decent hoppy finish. Slightly grainy mouth feel. Good.

A Mes rate: Cask at the Fly in the Loaf, Liverpool. Very run of the mill bitter with nothing to write home about. Mellow malts, slight bitter finish. Merv drinks it.

1/2 pint cask, Cloisters, Edinburgh. Deep golden colour. Tall beautiful white head with coarse bubbles for a cask ale. Aroma is hoppy sour with little malts. Smooth malty flavour with little hops. In the finish there are more hops including a light bitterness. Finish is very gentle and flavourful.

Cask at George & Devonshire, London W4. Amber, thin white head, hazy (served way too cold). Sweet/malty on the nose. A little thin on the palate. Well balanced; bitter throughout but with underlying sweetness.

(Cask at Fly in the Loaf, Liverpool, 25 July) Colour is amber with a thick white head. Nose is malty with dried fruit, apricots and some dusty hops. Taste is malty with notes of dried fruit. Rather neutral/clean taste. Spicy hops in the dry bitter finish. Yet another ok bitter.

Bitter, but not tirign, cool colour, a little creamy nin the foam for a while, but then it starts to be watery in some way.
