Commercial Description:
Bottled. Filtered and force-carbonated.
"Dr Okells is an extremely light coloured beer with a surprising full bodied taste, the sweetness is offset by a very strong hopping rate. That gives the finished beer an over all roundness with very spicy lemony notes and a fine dry finish to counteract the initial sweetness."

500 ml bottle. Golden with something that resembles a whiteish haze. Small fine-laced white head that clings to the glass. Medicinal and earthy hop aroma. Hints of citrus. Crisp hop bitterness initially. Then mealy maltiness. Quite dry and powdery. Lightbodied and watery, but there is a nice crisp and sharp hoppy bite that lingers in the finish. Nice and refreshing.

Lightly hazy crisp golden coloured body with a thinnish white head and a bunch of bubbles rising from the bottom. Aroma of hay, lemons, limes, yeast and coriander seed - more of a trip or a belgie than an IPA. Light-bodied; Sharp citrus flavour up front with a touch of hops and a bit more yeast following. Aftertaste shows sharp hops, a little malt and some more lemons - interesting! Overall, more of a light wheat or a mild belgian ale than a bitter or IPA, but even there, it’s a bit underflavoured. I sampled this 500 mL bottle purchased from the Utobeer Market Stall in Borough, London, England on 13-December-2008, sampled at home in Washington on 26-January-2009.

500 ml bottle, bought at ICA Middelthon, Stavanger. ABV is 4.5%. Golden colour, big white head. Fairly strong aroma of hops, first flowery, then more citrussy and lightly spicy. The flavour is distinctly hoppy throughout, with grapefruity notes, and has just enough malts to balance it. Pleasant (if somewhat sharp) bitterness in the finish and aftertaste. I don’t know which variety(ies) of hops they have used here - possibly Progress? A nice and refreshing ale this one - will buy again.

A 500ml bottle of Celtic ale from Isle of Man bought at Centra Colosseum Park in Oslo. Golden body under a huge, dense white head. Display of good glass-lacing. Inviting aroma of fruit-oily hops. Modest fruity flavour with grapefruit and lemon. Ends up with a soft bitter twist [hotel room, Thon Munch, Oslo 22.01.2009].

500 ml bottle. A big dense, mostely diminishing white head leaving fine laces. Body is copper colored with a slight haze. Sharpish, citrussy fruit aroma. Notes of grainy, maybe bready malts and grassy hops. Taste is fairly dry, has a low malt base, some citrus-fruity tones and a resiny and earthy bitterness. Medium body. Dry, sharp malty finish.

Big offwhite head quickly grows coarse and then shrinks. Golden body. Fruity slightly medicinal hoppy aroma with floral notes. Dryish fruity floral hoppy taste with resiny notes. Light body. Smooth mouthfeel. Dryish floral resiny aftertaste with pea notes. Quite good, but low on taste. (0.5l bottle, Centra, Oslo.)

Bottle at The Cockney Pub, Århus
Golden color, big bubbles, persistent head, of medium size. The aroma shows some nice cereals. The flavor has a strong dry toffee flavor, with strong bitterness; long final. A reasonable Golden Ale, nothing impressive here.
