Aroma is like a cross between a European Strong Lager and a Porter. Some roasted malt, banana sweetness, leather and cardboard. Flavor has some roasted malt up front with prune, plum and banana sweetness on the back end of the palate. Finishes mildly roasty and bitter. BBB63 (4267), La Porte, Indiana, USA

The aroma has notes of toffee and molasses, walnut, dusty yeast, plum, prune and tobacco esters as well. The taste is sweet as expected by not cloy has there is some fruity twang and some smoke to assist balance. The mouth feel is slight syrupy and but moves along quickly. I nice little fall brew indeed, underrated IMO. SN11 (57), USA

Pours total black with brown head, lacing is minimal. Roasted hops, pecans, caramel, honey and some other stuff which I can’t point my finger at. Interesting. Fire brewed, smoky and malty. Could use a bit more bitterness otherwise this is an excellent and dare I say underrated dark beer. I’ll come back to this for sure. Gusler (2655), Tucson, Arizona, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 2, 2007 The beer pours from the 500ml bottle a somewhat hazy brown with definite ruby highlights, the head a three finger light brown that lingers long, lacing forms an obscuring sheet. Nose has a deep roasted grain aroma, sweet, caramel and a bit of licorice, clean and fresh. Start has a nice sweet toasted malt presence; just a bit bitter at the back, top is moderate in feel to the palate. Finish has customary acidity, the hops adequate, dry slightly bitter aftertaste, a drinkable beer, “Dunkel, Euro Dark Lager or Baltic Porter”? dkazuk (247), winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada

Pours a deep black with sparkly red highlights and an off-white head that leaves some lacing. Aroma of roasted malts and nuts on a fruity bed. I also pick up some coffee and maybe even smoked sausage as it warms. Has a medium body and smooth carbonation. Nice mouth feel. The flavours I’m getting are of sweet roasted malts and prunes with a fruity bitter finish. Roasty aftertaste that gains some chocolate notes after a little warmth. Complex and interesting beer. Will buy this one again. shrubber85 (2979), Wallhalben, Germany

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Oct 15, 2007 There’s Coca-Cola in that aroma. Also dark toasted malt and dark fruit. Nearly opaque black color, but there is ruby in the hilites. The white head rapidly ringed. Thin to medium body with mild carbonation. Starts sweet dark malt with a hint of smoke. Follows with dark fruit hints. It’s not overly sweet, and there is some bitter in the finish. It’s interesting and flavorful. Lives up to the artistic label. Enjoyit (1746), Vadum, Denmark
